Historia
It begins on the shaded town square in a sleepy Southern town. A spirited seven-year-old has a brisk business at her lemonade stand. But the little girl’s pretty yellow dress can’t quite hide the ugly scar on her chest. Her latest customer, a bearded stranger, drains his cup and heads to his car, his mind on a boat he's restoring at a nearby lake. The stranger understands more about the scar than he wants to admit. And the beat-up bread truck careening around the corner with its radio blaring is about to change the trajectory of both their lives.

Good hearted story
Revisado: 07-25-20
This book was a gift to listen to during a time in the worlds history were chaos reigns.
When Crickets Cry is plain life unfolding around extraordinary circumstances. This audio book just felt good to listen too. Down to earth people living life, all struggling in some form or another.
I wanted to jump in and hug Reese, let Anna know how brave she was and move in to house on the lake.
Come untangle the stings...it is worth the read or listen.

Gripping!
Revisado: 01-26-20
Quick listen, however gripping and intriguing.
I wish more attention was given to the topic of postpartum depression.
Croft's writings are short but never fail to be filled with description which evokes such emotion from me. I feel present in his story.

Short, and not so thrilling.
Revisado: 12-30-19
The story was predictable. Not a bad book, more like a short quickie. I listened to the end. Character development was shallow but not needed in the storyline.

The story needed a more complete ending and the descriptive language was overused leaving zero room for imagination. I just felt this story needed more.

Just cannot fathom! Disturbing.
Revisado: 05-08-19
I just kept hoping that this book wasn't going there...there being the depths of a depraved soul. I wanted there to be a happy ending and I knew there would not be but I kept reading. I am just angry and saddened with a greater understanding that real monsters do exist. Real monsters that could be your husband, your son, your neighbor...any body really.

Historia
Best-selling author Bryan Burrough recently made a shocking discovery: The small town of Temple, Texas, where he had grown up, had harbored a dark secret. One of his high school classmates, Danny Corwin, was a vicious serial killer. In this chilling tale, Burrough raises important questions of whether serial killers can be recognized before they kill or rehabilitated after they do. It is also a story of Texas politics and power that led the good citizens of the town of Temple to enable a demon who was their worst nightmare.

You just never know!
Revisado: 03-11-19
This story is an eye opener. You just never know who someone will become but there were obvious signs that everyone ignored.
I have a very hard time understanding why this person was allowed to get away with such horror.
My heart and prayers go out to his victims and their families.

Revisado: 02-10-19
I felt as if I were right in the room with Patri and her guests. This live performance was excellent. I enjoyed the storytelling, poetry, and songs as Patti expressed them in such a way as to draw you right into the moments of their conception.
