Historia
A cannon. A strap. Or, you can call it a gun. That's what 15-year-old Will has shoved in the back waistband of his jeans. See, his brother Shawn was just murdered. And Will knows the rules. No crying. No snitching. Revenge. That's where Will's now heading, with that gun shoved in the back waistband of his jeans, the gun that was his brother's gun. He gets on the elevator, seventh floor, stoked. He knows who he's after. Or does he?

A powerful minute tale
Revisado: 01-30-19
Jason reads this story, in verse, sounding like music, sounding like a dream, sounding like the truth of what happens when you’re chased by a nightmare into the arms of your history. It is written in verse, which was so intriguing, yet it is read in a fluid voice, the authors, as fluidly as an unhesitating telling in the moment. Jason has a command of language and rhythm and brutal honesty. It was a joy to listen to this audiobook but one tinged with grief and sorrow. Thank you, Jason, for writing and reading this. Your voice is beautiful.

Historia
Meryl Streep’s performance of Colm Tóibín's acclaimed portrait of Mary is hailed by the New York Times Book Review as “an ideal audiobook,” presenting the three-time Academy Award-winner in “yet another great role.” Shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize, Colm Tóibín's The Testament of Mary presents Mary as a solitary older woman still seeking to understand the events that become the narrative of the New Testament and the foundation of Christianity. In the ancient town of Ephesus, Mary lives alone, years after her son's crucifixion. She has no interest in collaborating with the authors of the Gospel. They are her keepers, providing her with food and shelter and visiting her regularly. She does not agree that her son is the Son of God; nor that his death was "worth it"; nor that the "group of misfits he gathered around him, men who could not look a woman in the eye," were holy disciples. This woman who we know from centuries of paintings and scripture as the docile, loving, silent, long-suffering, obedient, worshipful mother of Christ becomes a tragic heroine with the relentless eloquence of Electra or Medea or Antigone, in a portrait so vivid and convincing that our image of Mary will be forever transformed.

The Testament of Mary - can’t recommend it enough !!!
Revisado: 07-06-18
This short book is so powerfully written by Colin Toibin then narrated by Meryl Streep.
I am blown away with the depiction of all those who’d been around her “son” and the cross purposes by all, including Mary. It is true, I now will be left to ponder Mother Mary’s life and point of view, as those who support her are writing their gospels.
Prize-worthy novel! Amazing performance by Street! Overall my favorite out of all the numerous titles I’ve read over the past 57 years.
I purchased the audible. Then the kindle edition to read along with. Then I bought the hard-bound book for my library and to share.

Historia
Jane Carver is nobody's idea of a space princess. A hard-ridin', hard-lovin' biker chick and ex-Airborne Ranger, Jane is as surprised as anyone else when, on the run from the law, she ducks into the wrong cave at the wrong time - and wakes up butt-naked on an exotic alien planet light-years away from everything she's ever known. Waar is a savage world of four-armed tiger men, sky pirates, slaves, gladiators, and purple-skinned warriors in thrall to a bloodthirsty code of honor and chivalry.

Great fun audible production
Revisado: 11-23-16
This book was so much fun, with its swashbuckling imagination. The narrator was perfect in her pitch and attitude. The sound effects and music never interfered yet added immensely to the whole package. I have nothing to complain about. My friend and I made evenings out of listening and ripped thru the audio book in three days without it ever feeling long winded or drawn out. I look forward to the sequel. This review is my first honest to goodness 5 star plus. I just wish we were still in the middle of the tale.
