Unforgettable characters
Revisado: 01-13-24
It has been a few years since I read the book prior to this one in the series. I was impressed with how easily I could step back into the world Marty Wingate had created. I did not need to start the series over to remember characters and back stories. The main characters and their stories are so well written they are distinctive and memorable. The mystery was complex and intriguing. This series continues to be one of my favorites.

Historia
For Samantha Gale, a summer on Martha’s Vineyard at her family’s tiny cottage was supposed to be about resurrecting her career as a chef, until she’s tasked with chaperoning her half-brother, Tyler. The teenage brainiac is spending his summer at the local library in a robotics competition, and there’s no place Sam, who has dyslexia, likes less than the library. And because the universe hates her, the library’s interim director turns out to be the hot-reader guy whose book she accidentally destroyed on the ferry ride to the island.

Well crafted characters
Revisado: 05-19-23
Having read many of Jenn Mckinlay’s books, I’ve come to expect strong main characters. She does a great job of portraying warm but realistic family relationships. Her teal life as a “boy mom” is on full display in this novel. The teen brother of the main character is a delight and spot on.

Historia
Trudell Becket, known to her friends as Tru, finds herself in a bind when her library in lovely Cypress, South Carolina, is turned into a state-of-the-art bookless "technological center". A library with no books breaks Tru's book-loving heart. Then the town manager, who was behind the big push for the library's transformation, is crushed by an overturned shelf of DVDs. Tru becomes the prime suspect as she hadn't hid the fact that she hated having all of those wonderful books replaced by tablets and computers.

Enjoyed this book. Looking forward to more in the series. Fun main character with interesting supporting characters. The culprit was a little easy to spot.
