Narrator’s accent
Revisado: 11-13-24
This narrator did a good job with most of the accents and voices but a couple really bothered me. It made it hard to properly envision the characters. The leading man was supposed to be Welsh but the accent sounded like an Asian Indian. I’ve known many Indian people as well as hearing them on TV and every time the Welsh character spoke, I envisioned a small Indian man. The character was described as an uncommonly tall and virile man. The Welsh Doctor’s accent also sounded effeminate and Indian. Also, I could hardly tell the difference between the voice of the leading man and the female Welsh housekeeper. Other men’s voices sounded more masculine. The only other voice that seemed inappropriate was the leading lady. The voice was that of a civil war era southern bell. The character was supposed to be Revolutionary War era raised by British parents. A slight British accent would have been more appropriate.

Never has faith in God been more important for the group of believers called the Tribulation Force, who now face danger on all sides. Valiantly, they continue to urge new followers to accept Christ's love.

New narrator
Revisado: 03-14-24
They changed narrators on this book. I did not like the new narrator's portrayal fo accents. Carpathia sounded like Dracula. Most other accents sounded Hispanic even if they were supposed to be middle eastern Greek or African. All of the previous books pronounced the name of the Biblical scholar as ZI-on emphasis on the first sylabal. In this book the name was pronounced ZE-ON emphasis on the second sylabal. I'm not sure what the author intended.

Great Story if you can get past the narrator
Revisado: 08-03-23
This is a wonderful story about love and forgiveness and faith. Unfortunately the narrator almost makes it difficult to get through. She has a raspy voice and every character men and women sound the same. It seems there is no attempt to give character or differences to the individual characters.

Disappointing Ending

I loved all 3 books in this series but this last one ended with too many unfinished stories. An epilog would have helped.

The year is 1835, and Carolina Adams finds herself enchanted by an unlikely suitor: the railroad. Frustrated by society's expectations upon her gender, she longs to study more masculine subjects and is thrilled when her father grants her a tutor. James Baldwin arrives to serve as Carolina's teacher, but of more importance, he is to court Carolina's beautiful older sister, Virginia. Will expectations - and Virginia's Southern charm - elicit the hoped-for proposal? Or will James and Carolina dare to acknowledge the mutual interests and feelings growing between them?

Amazing narrator
Revisado: 07-01-23
I loved the story but I was amazed at the narrator. One the best I have ever heard! I tried to look up other books narrated by Marnye Young, but they don't seem to be of similar story lines, that is, clean wholesome historical romance. You will also enjoy the other 2 books in this series.

This narrator is amazing
Revisado: 06-29-23
The story is great, but the narrator is amazing. She does the male voices so well. There are a few of the male voices that i didn't like, but for most, i could'nt realize that it was a man speaking and the accents were so good.

I enjoyed this novel. I found the characters very relatable. The characters and the interweaving plot lines are well developed. It is nice to find a story portraying women who are looking for new challenges in life no matter what their age. I am looking forward to the next book from this author.

Good story, poor narrator
Revisado: 11-27-22
This was a good clean romance, but the narrator made me gag. I'm always amazed when women can do men's voices so well that you believe it is actually a man speaking, but this was not the case with this narrator. The voice of the Duke sounded like a little girl. The worst part was the fake laughing. spare us!
