If Murder She Wrote and I Love Lucy had a baby
Revisado: 02-10-25
This cozy mystery was too silly for me. In a small town where everyone knows everything, but the two close friends don’t know they are dating the same man? A mom lets her 12-year-old help investigate a murder?
But if you can get over the completely unbelievable, silly plot, the narration is enjoyable. It is good if you need to just mindlessly listen to something.

Fun

A nice little spinoff of the Lady Hardcastle series.
The banter between the characters was a bit more interesting than the actual mystery.

Historia
The McCready Family Funeral Home and Bait Shop has crickets running rampant in the store and hot sauce in the Snack Shack's ketchup bottles. But as the county coroner, Frankie has enough on her plate without worrying about the increasingly mean pranks being played at her family's business. And the arrival of Sheriff Eric Linden, both devastatingly attractive and painfully taciturn, is enough to push her over the edge.

Historia
It’s official. Fortune Redding is out of the CIA and a newly minted resident of Sinful, Louisiana. She never expected her homecoming to be all apple pie and hugs, but a murder wasn’t on her list of things to deal with before she’d even gotten her name stenciled on her mailbox. Boone Carre-Hooch, to the locals - was a drunk and a louse and had shafted pretty much everyone he’d ever done business with. So when someone kills him, there is no shortage of suspects. Unfortunately, Ally is at the top of the list.

Needs better editing
Revisado: 04-10-19
I’m not sure if the written book has errors or if the narrator misread, but there were mistakes. Fortune talks about having frozen beer and pizza. (Rather than beer and frozen pizza). And at one time the names Carter and Walter got mixed up. It doesn’t change the plot, just distracting. Otherwise, the book is fine.

Historia
In the two weeks CIA assassin Fortune Redding has been hiding in Sinful, Louisiana, she's been harassed, poisoned, and shot at...and that was the easy part. But now she's about to face her biggest challenge since setting foot in the tiny bayou town. When mayoral candidate Ted Williams is murdered, everyone is surprised. Ted was a blowhole and a Yankee, but those usually weren't good reasons to kill someone.

How can a trained agent be so careless
Revisado: 03-09-18
Overall, I enjoy the series, but it is getting silly. Fortune is already noting that she has lost her edge. After only a few weeks she has lost years of training.
Many authors have a phrase they overuse Jana DeLeon uses several versions of ‘sucked in a breath’ often.

Historia
Pru and her husband, Christopher Pearse, are long overdue for a getaway. So when Pru is invited to redesign an Arts and Crafts garden in Cotswolds, she and Christopher jump at the chance. Unfortunately, their B&B is more ramshackle than charming, and the once thriving garden has fallen into neglect. With the garden's owner and designer, Batsford Bede, under the weather, Pru tackles the renovation alone. But just as she's starting to make headway, she stumbles upon Batsford's body in the garden - dead and pinned beneath one of his limestone statues.

Wingate is getting too predictable
Revisado: 02-05-18
I realize these books are cozy mysteries and are full of fluff, but the murderer has been obvious early on in the last two books. There really is not much mystery to the story. However, as a southerner who used to live in England, I enjoy the descriptions of the countryside and the language difference. I like that characters from previous books are revisited. I love the examples of all the different ways to family.
If you are looking for a mystery that keeps you guessing, this is not the series for you. But if you want an easy listen to pass the time, this is a good option.

This may have been better read than listening
Revisado: 11-06-17
The story itself was ok - not the best, but not terrible. The narrator was terrible. Robotic.
I think I would have enjoyed reading this one more than listening.
The premise was good. Parts were a bit juvenile.

Poor recording quality
Revisado: 10-20-17
The story line was ok, but the quality of the recording of the last couple of books has been distracting. In this one, it seemed like someone else narrated the french words and they dubbed them in.

Historia
Molly Murphy - now Molly Sullivan - is a year into her marriage, expecting her first child, and confined to the life of a housewife. She’s restless and irritable in the enforced idleness of pregnancy and the heat of a New York summer in 1905. So when a trip to the post office brings a letter addressed to her old detective agency asking her to locate a missing Irish serving maid, Molly figures it couldn’t hurt to at least ask around, despite her promise to Daniel to give up her old career as a detective. On the same day, Molly learns that five babies have been kidnapped in the past month.

Not as good as the first two
Revisado: 10-03-17
Part of the problem is the narrator changed the pronunciation of the main character's name, which was kind of distracting.
One would also think that Margie would have learned her lesson about moving dead bodies.
