Historia
Every year the people of the Protectorate leave a baby as an offering to the witch who lives in the forest. They hope this sacrifice will keep her from terrorizing their town. But the witch in the forest, Xan, is kind and gentle. She shares her home with a wise Swamp Monster named Glerk and a Perfectly Tiny Dragon, Fyrian. Xan rescues the abandoned children and delivers them to welcoming families on the other side of the forest, nourishing the babies with starlight on the journey.

Wonderful Interweaving of Native American Stories
Revisado: 05-05-17
I particularly enjoy Jance's Joanna Brady stories of Arizona but the interweaving, so naturally, of the Native American folklore was my favourite part of this book. I hope Lonnie is a regular in the Brandon Walker novels. It reminds me of Tony Hillerman's wonderful mysteries.

Well told story but extremely violent
Revisado: 06-16-15
I have thoroughly enjoyed two of the Byrne and Balzano stories. The characters are fully drawn and engaging. My only caveat is the extreme violence.

Historia
Despite the tumor-shrinking medical miracle that has bought her a few years, Hazel has never been anything but terminal, her final chapter inscribed upon diagnosis. But when a gorgeous plot twist named Augustus Waters suddenly appears at Cancer Kid Support Group, Hazel’s story is about to be completely rewritten. The Fault in Our Stars is insightful, bold, irreverent, and raw. It brilliantly explores the funny, thrilling, and tragic business of being alive and in love.

Six out of five stars.
Revisado: 09-11-14
This book is magic. Hazel Grace and Augustus transcend their daily lives with cancer and form a special world of their own together. They are warm, genuine and intelligent. They remind me of fireflies shining in the dark enjoying the transience of the light to their fullest capacities.
Kate Rudd does a superb job of voicing Hazel Graze. Their is a subtlety to her tone that allows you to hear such things as gentle sarcasm which might be missed in the written word.
It has been a privilege to enter Hazel Grace's and Augustus' world and heartbreaking to leave it.

Many consider this rich social commentary to be Jane Austen's finest novel. It is certainly among her more famous ones. Austen sets her entertaining study of manners and misconceptions against the backdrop of a class-conscious society in 18th-century England.

Excellent Story - Comedy of Manners
Revisado: 03-13-13
Where does Pride and Prejudice rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Pride and Prejudice is one of my favourite books taking a gently satirical look at middle class society in the early 1800's in England.
My only criticism is that although the book is well read it needs a younger reader to fit with the characters in the book.

Too long
Revisado: 01-13-13
What did you like best about Dog Daze and Cat Naps? What did you like least?
I found the story of an America vet student's journey through training interesting but it could have been shortened considerably. It would have benefited from some stories of his patients and their personalities. His fellow students and professors were effectively portrayed but I felt the animals who are the reason for his training were neglected.

Eye Opening
Revisado: 01-13-13
What did you like best about this story?
This is a fascinating story about an Australian paramedic who starts out in an Australian backwater and travels to many countries to experience his trade under vastly different circumstances. It compares the EMS systems in as varied places as Pakistan, Mexico and England. He both participates and instructs first responders. We have a lot to learn and his characters are portrayed with warmth.
What does Trevor Whittaker bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
It took a little to get used to his voice. It was not at all what I was expecting.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I learned a lot and enjoyed it immensely.
Any additional comments?
I would recommend this book to anyone who wishes to learn more about the people in other countries.
