Historia

Powerful. An incredibly honest Book!
Revisado: 06-26-24
The honest personal stories are full of a type of courage that can only be achieved with this level of vulnerability. A gift to society that can evoke a powerful change and healing. I hope this book is available in many language translations, and that it it becomes a required reading in highschool/Preparatory school.
This book is a message that we are not alone, that we do not need to feel shame, that nobody has a perfect family and that we all have our own version of pain and healing to do. Also, a message that we can heal, that we can experience pain AND not let it define us. And a reminder that mothers are also human beings capable of hurting others, experiencing their own pain, healing themselves, healing their legacy via their children by first healing themselves, capable of making mistakes, making selfish choices, repairing mistakes, apologizing for their selfishness without minimizing the pain it caused their children, at any age, even when they are now adult-children. It is never too late for the mother to initiate repair.
I read it as a daughter, felt community through its words, and I'm gaining a treasure-box of knowledge as a mother of my own little ones to stop toxic cycles. Now, I'm Feeling empowered.
A Powerful truth.

Historia
Patric Gagne realized she made others uncomfortable before she started kindergarten. Something about her caused people to react in a way she didn’t understand. She suspected it was because she didn’t feel things the way other kids did. Emotions like fear, guilt, and empathy eluded her. For the most part, she felt nothing. And she didn’t like the way that “nothing” felt.

Revisado: 06-09-24
This book was soooo entertaining I couldn't stop listening to it.
interesting story and informative content.
The way she wrote it was captivating! A talented author.
the fact that it's a memoir made it even more unbelievable and interesting.
In addition, this is such a gem for psychology and for therapy, it should become a mandatory reading for a psych degree.

Historia
Molly Gray is not like everyone else. She struggles with social skills and misreads the intentions of others. Her gran used to interpret the world for her, codifying it into simple rules that Molly could live by. Since Gran died a few months ago, twenty-five-year-old Molly has been navigating life’s complexities all by herself. No matter—she throws herself with gusto into her work as a hotel maid. Her unique character, along with her obsessive love of cleaning and proper etiquette, make her an ideal fit for the job.

Not Like any other story, and THAT is what makes it great!
Revisado: 01-30-23
Not Like any other story, and THAT is what makes it great! Entertaining.
I also genuinely liked that the main character is differently abled and we get a glimpse into her mind, and that it reveals how so much of humanity treats someone like her and with her job title, even as a citizen of her country. We can only imagine how immigrants with her job status are treated…Well, we can somewhat also get a glimpse into the vulnerabilities for some immigrants who move to another country for a better life and for the love of their family, in the book- pleasantly unexpected.
Sadly, Differently Abled people and Immigrant people are often not Prespectives that are taken into account much by our world, and their voices and experiences are ignored. This book did not do that. A pleasant surprise.

In my book, you will meet a little girl named Viola who ran from her past until she made a life-changing decision to stop running forever. This is my story, from a crumbling apartment in Central Falls, Rhode Island, to the stage in New York City, and beyond. This is the path I took to finding my purpose but also my voice in a world that didn’t always see me.

I couldn’t stop listening. Incredible!
Revisado: 01-19-23
What an incredible life! What an amazing way of writing about. An incredible book!
Well written. So entertaining and heartbreaking and inspiring and funny and sweet and cringe-worthy and healing and scary and suspenseful. All the “and’s”. It is “Complex”, like the actor, like the person.
Narrated by an amazing actor, the author herself, so it makes sense that it would be an excellent performance.
I feel Especially grateful with Mrs. Viola Davis for having shared her life in this book. All the parts she shared in this book were personal and vulnerable, thus, they were powerful.
I know this may not have been the purpose of this book, nor the most commonly outcome of reading it, but, i must share that I found that reading the book became a step forward for my personal healing from my own traumas, my healing with my relationship with my imperfect and loving and human parents who also did their best with the knowledge they had at the time. And inspiring as a woman, immigrant, Mexican-American minority in a mostly white community, And as a mom and partner in this life.
“Thank you” does not begin to encompass my gratitude. But, thank you anyway.

Historia
Every day we experience the uncertainty, risks, and emotional exposure that define what it means to be vulnerable or to dare greatly. Based on 12 years of pioneering research, Dr. Brené Brown dispels the cultural myth that vulnerability is weakness and argues that it is, in truth, our most accurate measure of courage. Brown explains how vulnerability is both the core of difficult emotions like fear, grief, and disappointment, and the birthplace of love, belonging, joy, empathy, innovation, and creativity.

Revisado: 09-02-21
I’m so grateful to Dr. Brené Brown for taking the 9 years of research and effort and sweat and tears to write this book, then publish it, and make it available at a reasonable price.
The benefits of reading this book and listening to it, and then rereading it, are gifts that keep on giving in allllllll aspects of my life: parenting, as a partner, as a daughter, a sister, an employee, a leader a volunteer, etc.
No matter how many times I listen or read it I get so much out of it, because I’m in a different life season, it is like turning on the lights to a dark room and seeing the way out again.
This book…wow…seriously…What an absolute treasure.
I genuinely feel lucky that I live in a world in a time where this book exists and it is accessible to me.
And as an added bonus, to help me stay focused with my ADHD while reading or listening to the book, Brené Brown’s personality is awesome, direct, funny, smart, all the things to keep my attention!
I could go on and on.
Do yourself a favor and read it or listen to it! Then, get all her other books!
You won’t regret it. You’ll thank yourself.
I promise I’m not getting paid for this at all, I just see so much value in this book and in many others of her books.
