Great Post Apocalypse Story

I liked the premise and flow of the story. The last chapters though felt rushed. In addition to that with a story like this it felt like there was a ton of room to further enhance the story and fill out the characters.

Prepare to listen twice....

There is so much going on with this story you will have to listen to it twice. This is not to be taken as a negative as the story is 100% engaging and continues the saga we have all gotten wrapped up in. The story jumps to different locations and each story is one where if you blink you may have missed and important piece of information.

Not a normal book for David

This book it feels was more a set up for more books to come it felt like. I love Davis Weber's books for his deep understanding of military tactics and weaponary. This book though was a far deperture from that though. The book focused more on world building without any true combat driving the story. Hopefully the next book will have more combat related content.

Decent

Another great book by David Weber and the narration is superb. The thing that I disliked with this book was the way it was written explicitly to put our heros in situations that guarantee the series will continue. While thats not a bad thing normally we see characters doing things that they normally would not have otherwise done or allowed to happen. It also makes what is going to happen even more obvious than what is normally seen in David Weber's writing. Another great book but opportunities exist to have made it better.
