Historia
When Brian Holloway (Jack Quaid, The Boys) was hired by famous horror author Paul Robinette (Titus Welliver, Bosch) to crack an antique safe in his home, he had no idea what he was about to encounter. Opening that safe door unleashed something sinister — something that continues to haunt him. But what exactly? And can whatever slipped through that threshold be stopped?

Michael Connelly Should Write More Ghost Stories
Revisado: 09-10-24
Ghost stories are my favorite, and it takes imagination to write one that doesn't end up using themes that are -- pardon the pun -- done to death. I hope Michael Connelly will write more in the suspense/horror/supernatural vein. He's got a knack for it.

Historia
Guy is about to finish writing his breakthrough online article. He overheard the story by chance in a pub and it’s guaranteed to go viral - all he needs to do is persuade the World’s Unluckiest Man to talk to him. His best friend Larry’s quest for killer clickbait material has led him to a recently appeared shanty town in Glasgow, where he finds some kind of urban voodoo cult. Ex-cop Sam has already come face-to-face with the terrifying force behind both these phenomena, but he’s been trying to put it out of his mind.

Don't Accept Any Weird Gifts!
Revisado: 02-06-24
Thanks to this novel, I'm going to be permanently worried about any odd objects I find on my front porch. It's got a similar vibe to Dean Koontz's Ticktock, and also reminds me of a classic horror movie, NIGHT OF THE DEMON. I was yelling at characters several times during the narration, "Don't pick that up!", "Don't say yes!", "GET OUT OF THERE!"
Loved it.

I Love Good Ghost Stories
Revisado: 03-01-23
I really appreciate a good twist on the traditional ghost story, something more than the jump-out-and-boo storylines so many rely on. I think a good ghost story is always about people who are haunted by their mistakes, by what they've lost, and by what they're afraid to lose. The narrator was wonderful, too.

Wild imagination and a sense of wonder, mixed with plenty of action and just the right touches of humor in just the right places -- that sums up Peter Clines work pretty well. I loved THE BROKEN ROOM. Five stars.

WOW!
Revisado: 07-20-18
I guessed pretty early who was responsible in the killings in this story, but that's not the point. All the way through, I kept wondering how it was going to twist and turn, and I found the main character often did things that shocked me. This was good. It kept me off balance. It's not about approving of someone else's choices, it's about watching how and why things come unraveled.

I love David Morse!
Revisado: 12-10-14
Where does Revival rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
This book was well worth my time and money.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Revival?
I liked the way King humanized his characters in this story that ultimately turns out to be about inhuman influences. His portrayal of people trying to cope with grief, loss, and disappointment rang true.
Have you listened to any of David Morse’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
David Morse reminds me of Jimmy Stewart, but without Stewart's characteristic hesitation.
Any additional comments?
I'm looking forward to hearing more from King and Morse.

I'm Glad It Was Shorter
Revisado: 09-03-14
If you could sum up The River of Souls in three words, what would they be?
Sad, Scary, Engrossing
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
McCammon always keeps you on the edge. In fact, he's a little exhausting that way.
What about Edoardo Ballerini’s performance did you like?
He's a top notch narrator with a fine voice and just the right amount of dramatic flair.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Once again, it's McCammon. At the very least, you're going to wince.
Any additional comments?
I hesitated to order this one, because I could see it was a lot shorter. But I gave in because I love the series and my curiosity got the better of me. Once I had listened to it, I realized it was a bit of a relief to have a shorter story in this series. McCammon doesn't pull his punches. If he's trying to convince me that the 18th Century was a time of wonders and horrors, he's doing a great job, but 18 hours of that can be kind of trying. Worthwhile, but yowza.

Never Disappointing
Revisado: 02-13-14
Would you listen to Lord of the Silent again? Why?
Yes -- perfect performance, and the story is delightful.
What about Barbara Rosenblat’s performance did you like?
Barbara Rosenblat is a star of the audio book world for good reason. She can do multiple voices and accents convincingly, even the male ones.
Any additional comments?
I would have preferred an unabridged version -- I wish it had been available.
