I tried four times to get into this book and only made it a third of the way. The FMC is a simpering, whiny brat and the other characters are one dimensional.

Science Fiction rather than Fantasy

This story takes place in a primitive future after a nuclear event. The story rambles. The side characters are far more interesting than the main character.

Excellent entertainment as usual. Very good story with fantastic actors. Absolutely recommend and will be listening to it again.

Boring plot with unlikable characters

The main character Annev is the your of guy that spends all his time telling you what a nice guy he is. He whines about how unfair everything is for him but every character he encounters ( including the ones that dislike him) bend over backwards for him. I kept waiting for even the slightest bit of character growth from him but there's none. The story is lackluster and your usual academy story with a bunch of preachy sermons. It gets tiresome fast. I tried, but ultimately couldn't finish it and definitely won't read the rest of the series.

Boring

I'm over 30 chapters in and I can't bring myself to keep going. The characters are all one note with no depth whatsoever. All the women in the story are even worse. They are all just side notes. I'm surprised they were even given names.

Also the gratuitous torture scenes didn't help.

Regret I wasted a credit on this

Absolutely terrible. It starts with an entire chapter of the main character lusting after his supposed best friend's widow while he escorts her to her husband's funeral. Before he runs away and she's burnt at the stake.

There's an incestuous sibling couple which is as close to GoT as it gets.

The story is so full of plot holes, it's hard to even call it a story. It's just bad which is a shame because the premise is interesting.

Returned unfinished - toxic relationship

I was hesitant to start this book because I wasn't impressed by the previous book. But I decided to take a chance that the story would improve.

I was wrong, it didn't. it was worse. So much so that I returned a book for the first time.

The first 3 chapters are just Eli and Mae's toxic relationship blooming. After mooning over each other they get into a fist fight when he tries to break up with her. Complete with a bloody nose and what not. The worst part is Eli is turned on by physically hurting Mae, supposedly the woman he loves. And what does the naive girl do after this? Why, marry him of course. Because that's what love is made of???

After that toxic, abusive mess, I just didn't feel like carrying on with the story.

Eli's bored and so am i

The story is rushed and disjointed and very predictable. Also the main character Eli just kinda stands by narrating what's happening without really doing much of anything. He's not even interested in pursuing the murderer he's been charged with capturing.

This is one of those times when some of the side characters are actually more interesting than the main characters. Except for Mae who only exists to fawn over Eli.

Tedious and Slow

Normally I devour Salvatore's books. But I just couldn't get into this one. I called it quits with over 8 hours left.

Sucks you in

I'm so glad I decided to listen. I loved the cast. I cared about the characters and wanted to learn more. Started listening at work and continued in my car. Even sitting in my driveway so I could finish another chapter. Highly recommend you give this a chance.
