Historia
After the killing of a prominent mob lawyer, NYPD homicide detectives Jacob Jackson and Caitlin Grimes start receive chilling, written “rules” for how to commit the perfect murder. "Rule number one for the perfect murder: Evidence is your enemy. Leave none behind." Jackson (Reid Scott) and Grimes (Cobie Smulders) race to find the killer, setting them on a collision course with the city’s crime underbelly, and a perpetrator who seems happy to toy with them. “Rule number two. No crimes of passion. The perfect murder is always business, never pleasure.”

Love a good plot twist.
Revisado: 03-26-25
The story was entertaining and I appreciated the ending. My only note is that there could’ve been a stronger connection with the characters — I felt no particular way if anything happened to them.

Historia
Twenty-four-year-old Saeris Fane is good at keeping secrets. No one knows about the strange powers she possesses or the fact that she has been picking pockets and stealing from the Undying Queen's reservoirs for as long as she can remember. But a secret is like a knot. Sooner or later, it is bound to come undone. When Saeris comes face-to-face with Death himself, she inadvertently reopens a gateway between realms and is transported to a land of ice and snow. The Fae have always been the stuff of myth, of legend, of nightmares… but it turns out they're real.

5/5 World Building but Rhysand is no voice actor
Revisado: 11-13-24
Anyone else listen to the graphic audio for ACOTAR? The male narrator here is the same as Rhysand and he can barely do different voices, so for all 10+ male characters, all you hear is Rhysand. I couldn’t tell them apart at times. STORY WAS GREAT, but I’m going to need the FMC’s frontal cortex and cognitive thinking to work a little more. Get those brain cells activated.

Least Favorite of the Married to Magic Universe
Revisado: 07-10-24
I’ve read all of the books more than once. This one was difficult to get through even once. I ended up speeding up the audio. When I thought I missed something, I went back and realized I had not missed anything because nothing happened in the book, in the plot, to the characters, to the story. Not a single thing happened in this book. I read everything Elise Kova publishes and love it. I’d say this and the last of the Vortex Chronicles were my least favorite for different reasons. The latter had so much to follow I needed a pushpin board, a printer, and red string. I needed to know what happened to the Vhalla storyline though! That series is what got me back into reading. ANYWAY, this duet is in a lower level tier than anything else. I’m so sorry, Elise! I love your work. Narration was great! Kissy sounds were off putting.

Dumb Protagonist, Predictable Issues, Fun Regardless
Revisado: 12-29-23
Was the protagonist making stupid mistakes? Yes. Could you tell what the problems in the story were going to be? Also yes. Did I enjoy the book? I did. Just because I know how a story is going to go, does not mean it is not enjoyable. Every American movie you ever watch that is not indie or horror will have a happy ending… so you know how it will end and you still watch it. I recommend this one :)

Fantasy Adventure + Great Narration
Revisado: 02-19-23
Surprisingly, I was hooked on this series from the first chapter. The story is an absolutely adventure with ups and downs in all of the right places. If there are clichés, they are what other writers aspire their clichés to be. This story was lovely. The narrator did a great job with the characters and tone. I don’t know about you but the narrator is a make it or break it for me with audiobooks. Give it a try if fantasy, adventure, and love (both romantic and of friendships) is your go to. By the way, I found myself tearing up a few times, which is just… great.

Historia
Demonstrating once again her gift for spellbinding storytelling, Anne Rice makes real for us a great dynasty of four centuries of witches - a family given to poetry and incest, murder and philosophy, a family that over the ages is itself haunted by a powerful, dangerous, and seductive being called Lasher who haunts the Mayfair women. Moving in time from today's New Orleans and San Francisco to long-ago Amsterdam and the France of Louis XIV, from the coffee plantations of Port-au-Prince to Civil War New Orleans and back to today, Anne Rice has spun a mesmerizing tale.

SO boring zZZZzZz
Revisado: 02-09-23
I gave the story a shot over a week, my goodness was it boring. Nothing ever happened. If it did, I didn’t last long enough to hear about it. I personally disliked the reader’s performance. Her reading in an iambic pentameter killed me.
