Historia
This profoundly moving memoir is the remarkable and inspiring true story of Sandra Uwiringiyimana, a girl from the Democratic Republic of the Congo who tells the tale of how she survived a massacre, immigrated to America, and overcame her trauma through art and activism. Sandra was just 10 years old when she found herself with a gun pointed at her head. She had watched as rebels gunned down her mother and six-year-old sister in a refugee camp.

A Story of Resilience
Revisado: 07-10-24
I saw this book on a shelf in a school library. The title and the look in Sandra’s eyes made me pick it up and I decided to order on Audible. This is such an incredible story of a young woman who experienced horrors and trauma that most of us cannot imagine. I finished the book in 2 1/2 days which is not typical for me with Audible. Her story was beautifully written while pulling on every emotion I have. Sandra is such an inspiration to not just girls but to people. It was hard to listen to at times, but it was even harder for Sandra and her family to live through such circumstances. It’s a must read!
