Historia
Rachel catches the same commuter train every morning. She knows it will wait at the same signal each time, overlooking a row of back gardens. She's even started to feel like she knows the people who live in one of the houses. Jess and Jason, she calls them. Their life - as she sees it - is perfect. If only Rachel could be that happy. And then she sees something shocking. It's only a minute until the train moves on, but it's enough. Now everything's changed.

Dreadfully fabulous
Revisado: 10-22-16
I will never ride a train again, watching the Friday commuters drinking a G&T again without thinking of this dreadful story.
Walking around the London suburbs I feel the utter realism portrayed. Going to the pub seeing men and women smashed beyond belief drives it home even more.
In short a brilliant piece of fiction and a definite recommendation. Though it should not be read at a time of relationship difficulty or with a clouded mood.

Absolutely Frightful
Revisado: 10-09-16
This book left me stunned at both the frightfulness of the society one gets to glimpse at and the eerie similarities to our own.
If you intend to sleep soundly or feel at peace ever again, then stay far away. If however you value an incitement to compassion and empathy this book will give you that in spades.

Historia
At the close of the tumultuous Middle Ages, there lived a man who seemed destined from birth to save the world. His name was Peter Morrone, a hermit, founder of a religious order, and depending on to whom you talk, a reformer, an instigator, a prophet, a coward, a saint, and possibly the victim of murder. A stroke of fate would, practically overnight, transform this humble servant of God into the most powerful man in the Catholic Church.

Historia
Treason. Considered by kings, queens, and emperors the most hideous crime of all. And as such some of the most vengeful punishments known to man were reserved for those convicted of it. Yet over the course of history, there have been no shortages of men and women who have been convicted or accused of it. Some have willingly committed the act; others were forced into it, and many more were wrongfully convicted by paranoid leaders determined to assert their authority.

Overly dramatic reading destroys a book
Revisado: 03-02-15
What did you like best about Behold! Here Is the Head of a Traitor? What did you like least?
The story/content is actually not uninteresting, though nothing special.
Would you be willing to try another book from Jodi Alcock? Why or why not?
N/A
Would you be willing to try another one of Roy Wells’s performances?
Definitely not. While the man has a nice and sonorous voice, he is incapable of reading a text without sounding so dramatic on every word that he is impossible to listen to even for an hour.
Did Behold! Here Is the Head of a Traitor inspire you to do anything?
It inspired me to write this review as a warning. Listen to the full preview. And yes the reading stays this over emphasised.
Any additional comments?
Possibly a good book, though destroyed by the narration.

Stay away! The audio quality is horrid!
Revisado: 03-23-14
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
I absolutely love Terry Pratchett and was excited to hear this book. I can't judge it really other than to say I could not listen for more than 5 minutes.
The audio quality is so incredibly bad (worse than anything I have ever experienced on audible) that I could not continue to listen.
So if you value your ears, stay away!

Iris Scanlon, Half-Moon Hollow's only daytime vampire concierge, knows more about the undead than she'd like. Running all their daylight errands - from letting in the plumber to picking up some chilled O neg - gives her a look at the not-so-glamorous side of vampire life. Her rules are strict; relationships with vamps are strictly business, not friendship - and certainly not anything else. But then she finds her newest client, Cal, poisoned on his kitchen floor, and only Iris can help.

A lovely story hillariously told
Revisado: 12-18-12
This was the last of Molly Harpers Vampire related books I have read. Like the ones before it left me wanting more. Sadly the supply of fresh tales by Harper is limited.
Here some tips:
* Do NOT consume beverages while listening. You and your environment will end up wearing them.
* Do NOT drive or operate machinery while listening. Tears of laughter do no enhance vision.

Painful attempt at a novel.
Revisado: 12-04-12
What would have made 666 Park Avenue better?
The story is extremely slow paced, yet it moves you along expecting there to be an actual ending. Well or at least a story to be told.
What was most disappointing about Gabriella Pierce’s story?
The better question would be what did not disappoint. You listen to the story and it keeps you with it expecting something to happen. Anything really. But nothing ever does. There is no ending to the story, no highlights, nothing. It's like a wet dream just after waking up in the morning. You know there is potential in the story and you can imagine an infinite number of twists and turns that would make the experience a pleasurable one. Yet once you are fully awake, it is simply deeply unsatisfying. The story leaves you hanging with tantalizing possibilities without ever resolving to anything. Even if this is just one installment in a series, this story is so badly ended, that you should avoid it at any cost unless you are a deeply masochistic person.
What does Ilyana Kadushin bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
The narration is what kept me listening. It is pleasantly melodious and tantalizing. It takes a horrid attempt at writing a story and imbues it with at least some character. The only reason the narration only gets 4 stars is that it is blatantly dishonest. A bland and uninspired reading of a bland and uninspired story would have been more fitting. My deepest respects to the narrator. She managed to turn this audiobook from water, if not into wine, at least into artificial grape-juice.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from 666 Park Avenue?
About half the novel is fluff and could be cut, but only if it were replaced with something of actual substance, like an actual story line.

An amazing book
Revisado: 07-28-08
This was an amazing book. But as others have remarked: What else would you expect from Hornby?
As a "young" father, albeit double the age of the protagonist, I could so easily relate to this story.
For teenagers this is a "must read". And for anyone out of their teens this is a "have to read".

Revisado: 05-25-07
I you have read/heard other books by E.Peters you will be sorely disappointed.
While the book itsself is entertaining and maybe even a fun listen, it in now way lives up to the expectations placed upon it by the authors name. For most authors this would be a laudable book; for Peters it's at best an embarassment.
