Historia
The story of Malcolm X's journey to Islam is world-known. But how many stories do we have of the brave women who joined on to the Nation of Islam? Very few. To add to the dilemma, Black women face unfair stereotypes when it comes to their acceptance of Islam. Many people unfairly accuse them of joining for vain reasons such as marriage and the desire to imitate Arab culture. This book will change the narrative about Black Muslim women. A Final Call to Self is a story of courage, audacity, failure, and triumph.

Enunciation is your friend
Revisado: 09-17-19
I found this particularly difficult to get through, in fact as of the time of me writing this review, I have not been able to, due to the lack of enunciation and pronunciation on the part of Ms. Murphy. It is a detriment to her story, as this kind of story is something that I am always interested in. But when the person reading the work pronounces the word "library" as "li'bary", it serves as a disservice to her intelligence and narrative.

The Vatican Diaries

Historia
For more than 25 years John Thavis held one of the most fascinating journalistic jobs in the world: reporting on the inner workings of the Vatican. His daily exposure to the power, politics, and personalities in the seat of Roman Catholicism gave him a unique, behind-the-scenes perspective on an institution that is far less monolithic and unified than it first appears. Thavis reveals Vatican City as a place where Curia cardinals fight private wars, scandals threaten to undermine papal authority, and reverence for the past is continually upended by the practical considerations of modern life.

Interesting "Behind the Scenes"
Revisado: 04-13-16
Would you listen to The Vatican Diaries again? Why?
I would definitely listen to this again, as I think that there are some things that I may have missed the first time around.
What did you like best about this story?
Malcolm Hillgartner has a wonderful voice that is easy to listen to and knows how to use inflection and tones to engage the listener. The Latin and Italian phrases and words that exist in the text he pronounces easily as if he were a native speaker.
Have you listened to any of Malcolm Hillgartner’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
This was the first time I had listened to a book read by Malcolm Hillgartner and would definitely be interested in other books read by him.
Any additional comments?
Listening to this helped me to understand how the Vatican works on it's "own times' and also allowed me to be able to appreciate Pope Benedict XVI's time "in office", despite not being a Catholic.
The stories bounce back and forth from JP2 and B16 but are easy to follow.

Historia
In pitch-perfect voices, Kathryn Stockett creates three extraordinary women whose determination to start a movement of their own forever changes a town, and the way women—mothers, daughters, caregivers, friends—view one another. A deeply moving novel filled with poignancy, humor, and hope, The Help is a timeless and universal story about the lines we abide by, and the ones we don't.

Wonderful Performance
Revisado: 01-07-15
What did you love best about The Help?
The narrators gave engaging and easy to enjoy performances. The one that stood out for me was Octavia Spencer, who read the chapters from Minnie's point of view.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I usually listen to the audio books while at work, to engage my mind in somethinmg throughout the day. I even spent time at home listening to this because I didn't want to stop.
