Historia
Would you believe it took nearly 500 years to translate the ESV (English Standard Version) Bible? That's because the ESV builds on the great translations of the past - including William Tyndale's New Testament of 1526 and the King James Version (KJV) of 1611. But the ESV Bible also builds on the best Christian scholarship of the last 100 years.

LOVE IT, Yet it's Poorly Organized for re-listens
Revisado: 01-22-25
Let us start with the positives: David Heath is an Amazingly Good Biblical Narrator. His voice is crisp, his tempo is perfect, and his intonation as he reads the Bible for the listener is perfect. You get a great sense of the meaning of what he is reading and voicing.
However....
Most books you listen to from start to finish. Organization and chapter headings truly are irrelevant. With over 200 titles in my collection, I've never had an issue with organization. But there is a huge difference when you're listening to the Bible.
I listened to the Bible twice in the past two years. The first time I started with the Gospel of John. It makes it easier to understand - at least for me - the Old Testament. I listened from John to Revelations, and then from Genesis to the end of John. This gave me a good grounding.
Then I purchased this version. I could not go to the Gospel of John directly. I had to hunt through numbered chapters that had no correlation to where I wanted to start. I gave up, and started in Genesis. While that's the first book of the Bible, it felt much different listening without the New Testament background.
My only suggestion to the producers is to take time, and create a chapter sequence that names the book and the chapter so that I can come back to this Audio version at any time, and listen to a book or a chapter of the Bible to find what I'm looking for.

Historia
Minalan the Spellmonger has come a long way since he woke up to a goblin invasion almost a decade ago. Since then, he has built cities and mighty armies, invented new enchantments, and pioneered entirely new fields of magic. Now that the Witch Queen of Darkfaller has taken over one of the most powerful castles in the center of the kingdom, he has to marshal all his resources—political, military, and arcane—to try to drive her from the strategic and symbolically important stronghold.

Best in the Series
Revisado: 02-19-24
This is the most audacious episode in the battle to save the world. The addition of the cousins was inspired. It brings many new nuanced battles to an appropriate end, while introducing the battle for the endgame. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series, and I’m not a fantasy fan. I’m a sci-fi reader, but this is an amazingly well done series.

The Aftermath of a stunning victory—especially an unexpected, complete, and final victory—should be high-fives all around, listening to politicians give boring congratulatory speeches, and a well-deserved rest for the Merry Band of Pirates. Yes, the galaxy is still a freakin' mess, but that is nothing new, and for a change, that can be someone else's problem. Until, you know, something really bad happens, and only the Pirates can deal with the problem... Or not.

BEST BISHOP EVER you must listen to this story
Revisado: 01-09-24
This is a great story! It keeps you guessing all the way to a well developed ending.
However, the best surprise is Joe Bishop. He’s still the same guy we love, but he has moved well along his arc. What a great job of taking all the main characters through their journey, and bringing the listener along.
Best book of the series!

Historia
A comprehensive explanation of Martin Luther’s most crucial and controversial beliefs on salvation, The Bondage of the Will is a critical resource in understanding the theology of free will and the gift of faith. Facing criticism even from others who had disagreements with the Catholic church, Luther’s strong and absolute beliefs on the gift of salvation were truly revolutionary. This work contains the full amount of research, discussion, and debate on Luther’s ideas on free will as it pertains to individual Christians and to their understanding of God.

Luther’s own words
Revisado: 09-08-23
The first hour required focus, I bought the book and it odd stunning to see hotter well St. John brings the words to life.
If anyone wants to further their understanding of Luther, this is a must listen and read. The two appendices are very helpful to hear the personal voice of Luther as well.
This is going on my annual “must listen again” list.

Historia
Walt thinks he might find the answers he's looking for among the ruins of an old Native American boarding school—an institution designed to strip Native children of their heritage. He has been haunted by the image of the Fort Pratt Industrial Indian Training School ever since he first saw a faded postcard picturing a hundred boys in uniform, in front of a large, ominous building—a postcard that was given to him by Jimmy Lane, the father of Jeanie One Moon.

Well worth the long wait
Revisado: 02-18-23
I'm a big fan of Craig Johnson and George Guidall's Longmire series. I've listened to every audio book and found each very enjoyable. Hell and Back is by far the best of the series. The innovative way of introducing native american culture into the series has been great; but this one takes it deeper and helps us understand who Walt Longmire is, and has been throughout the series.
I highly recommend this book, even if you've never read a Walt Longmire book before. It gives you a great idea of what you are in for. If you're a fan of the series, this brings back some excellent characters that you can view in a different light.

Five hundred years after Luther's now famous 95 Theses appeared, Eric Metaxas, acclaimed biographer of the best-selling Bonhoeffer: Pastor, Martyr, Prophet, Spy and Amazing Grace: William Wilberforce and the Heroic Campaign to End Slavery, paints a startling portrait of the wild figure whose adamantine faith cracked the edifice of Western Christendom and dragged medieval Europe into the future.

So Relatable!!!
Revisado: 12-16-22
Eric Mataxas makes this biography come alive, relevant to the historical times and to the present. He tells a compelling story of a significant historical figure keeping the human reality of flaws, and sidesteps we all take in life.
The summary at the end of the book brings it all into today, with a compelling argument that even flawed human beings are a gift to humanity and to the future in unexpected ways.
I could not stop listening, and found myself going back to re listen to segments that were too meaningful to gloss over.
Five stars because I could not give it more.

Historia
With the south in full rebellion, the goblins stirring on the northern frontier, and the summer capital being run by a corrupt baron and a gang of thugs, things could be better. But those aren’t the worst of her problems: Pentandra is learning how to live with her new husband, Arborn, while the town is driven to distraction by an incarnate sex goddess who is organizing all of the whores, a mopey spellmonger, a nun addicted to gambling, a prude sent by the queen, undead skulking through the shadows, and a mysterious blind girl shows up in her office claiming to be her new apprentice.

Creativity and Pacing
Revisado: 02-25-22
Adam Gaffen creates superb characters, strong plot, makes you laugh at times, and brings great creativity even though he builds upon a dream many of us had, or still have!
I don’t want to give away anything, but this is a must read, even if you skipped ahead. It stand alone, but builds nicely on the overall storyline.

Excellent Storyline
Revisado: 08-02-21
Ken Lozito continues to be my favorite author, the likes of David Weber, BV Larson and the greatest of all, Isaac Asimov.
The concept behind Archeron is simple, the characters are multi dimensional and drive the story forward better than most authors have the ability to do.
The fate of the Galaxy is at stake and a small band of characters face the challenge head on, accepting their individual flaws, yet being stronger as a unit than each individual.
The challenges are massive, as all galactic challenges should be. Together they have a plan and the confidence that they’ll achieve because they work together and as individuals.
Can’t wait to read the rest of the story as it develops.

Historia
Carrigan O'Malley has always known her arranged marriage would be more about power and prestige than passion. But after one taste of the hard-bodied, whiskey-voiced James Halloran, she's ruined for anyone else. Too bad James and his family are enemy number 1. Hallorans vs. O'Malleys—that's how it's always been. James should be thinking more about how to expand his family's empire instead of how silky Carrigan's skin is against his and how he can next get her into his bed. Those are dangerous thoughts. But not nearly as dangerous as he'll be if he can't get what he wants.

Strong plot, fast pace, great listen
Revisado: 07-12-21
First, let’s start with Charlotte North and an amazing performance. She bring these characters to life in a compelling way.
Second, Katee Robert created a thrilling ride through the believable characters, a tight plot, and a story that remains true to the genre and adds to the lore created about Boston.
As dangerous as these characters are, you still feel like you’d enjoy a drink and a heart to heart.
Most definitely worth the listen!
