Historia
When fifteen-year-old Eragon finds a polished blue stone in the forest, he thinks it is the lucky discovery of a poor farm boy. But when the stone brings a dragon hatchling, Eragon soon realizes he has stumbled upon a legacy nearly as old as the Empire itself. Overnight his simple life is shattered, and, gifted with only an ancient sword, a loyal dragon, and sage advice from an old storyteller, Eragon is soon swept into a dangerous tapestry of magic, glory, and power. Now his choices could save—or destroy—the Empire.

Why we think it’s a great listen: Some books are meant to be read; others are meant to be heard – Water for Elephants falls into the second group, and is one of the best examples we have of how a powerful performance enhances a great story. Nonagenarian Jacob Jankowski reflects back on his wild and wondrous days with a circus. It's the Depression Era and Jacob, finding himself parentless and penniless, joins the Benzini Brothers Most Spectacular Show on Earth.

Historia
This mysterious tale is the best known and best loved of du Maurier's work. After honeymooning in Italy, the dashing Max de Winter returns to Manderley, his beautiful country estate, with his innocent young bride. But the unsettling presence of Rebecca (the first Mrs. de Winter) still lingers within the mansion's rooms and halls, and most of all in the persistent reminders from the grim housekeeper, Mrs. Danvers.

Historia
When the famous German author Sebastian Haffner died at the age of 91 in 1999, a manuscript was discovered among his unpublished papers. The book was begun in 1939, but with the advent of World War II, Haffner had set it aside. His family made the decision to publish it, and the book became a best seller in Germany in 2002. Spanning the period from 1907 to 1933, it offers a unique perspective on how the average educated German grappled with the rise of Hitler.

HELPED TO UNDERSTAND THE THINKING OF THE GERMAN PEOPLE AT THE TERRIBLE TIME IN HISTORY. IT DOESN'T MAKE IT ACCEPTABLE BUT DOES HELP YOU TO UNDERSTAND SO AS TO BE AWARE OF HOW INDIFFERENCE CAN MAKE ONE TURN HIS BACK ON HUMAN SUFFERING.

MANY VALUABLE LESSONS
Revisado: 05-11-07
THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST WONDERFUL BOOKS I HAVE EVER LISTENED TO. IT IS FULL OF MANY LESSONS THAT WE ALL NEED TO LEARN. CHARLES DICKENS DID A GREAT JOB OF KEEPING UP SUSPENSE AND CAPTIVATING THE MIND. I OFTEN WOULD GET SO CAUGHT UP IN THE BOOK THAT WHEN NOT LISTENING TO IT I STILL FELT LIKE I WAS INVOLVED IN IT. LISTENING TO BOOKS WILL ALLOW ME TO BE ABLE TO GET THROUGH MANY THAT I MIGHT NOT HAVE BE ABLE TO READ DUE TO LACK OF TIME. THIS AVENUE OF LISTENING HAS MADE BY COMMUTE TO WORK SOMETHING TO LOOK FORWARD TO AS "MY TIME" AND I LOVE IT. THANKS SO MUCH, JANET
