Historia
Portia Hastings has spent her life rescuing her younger sister from one scrape or another. But this time, she has to step through time to do it, following Miranda from the 19th century to the 18th. Almost immediately, Portia is beset by highwaymen, which might be the most exciting thing to happen to her in a long time, even if she’d never admit it.

Good completion of the series
Revisado: 12-22-24
As the last of the 3 sisters enters the Time Stitch, she finds her adventure begins more than a hundred years before her own Victorian Era. Although the protagonist’s views on relationships are unrealistically advanced, that can be overlooked & the story brings a satisfying end to the series.

Historia
In Thorne Manor there is one locked door. Behind it lies a portal to the 21st century, and nothing is going to stop Miranda Hastings from stepping through. After all, she is a Victorian writer of risqué pirate adventures—traveling to the future would be the greatest adventure of them all. When Miranda goes through, though, she lands in Georgian England...and in the path of Nicolas Dupuis, a privateer accused of piracy.

Not one of her best
Revisado: 12-22-24
In this Robin Hook fan fiction, one of the sisters replaces Lady Marion as Hood’s love interest. That’s a good basis for this series, however, the scenes wherein differences between genders are discussed are filled with so much political correctness that I found myself laughing at what were supposed to be serious scenes. The lovemaking scenes were especially cringe-worthy, unless you are seeking a sex-ed class. Had I not already purchased the next book in this series, this one would have been my last. However, I’m glad I did, as the next book is better (even though the protagonist’s views on sex are still laughably forward thinking,)

Thorne Manor has always been haunted...and it has always haunted Bronwyn Dale. As a young girl, Bronwyn could pass through a time slip in her great-aunt's house, where she visited William Thorne, a boy her own age, born two centuries earlier. After a family tragedy, the house was shuttered and Bronwyn was convinced that William existed only in her imagination. Now, 20 years later Bronwyn inherits Thorne Manor. And when she returns, William is waiting.

Gets Better!
Revisado: 08-06-24
At first, I thought this was going to be a boring YA level romance, filled with “Oh, my…how different women dress in your time!” references, but then the mystery began to unfold with lots of unanswered questions and suspects. My interest grew with each chapter. As long as you aren’t too critical about the time travel specifics, this is a good mystery with a satisfying ending.

Fun Cozy Mystery
Revisado: 08-19-23
This is the first book in a lighthearted, cozy mystery series. Although it's pretty easy to spot the villain early in the book, and the sheriff's crime-solving abilities are questionable, it was a fun read and I'm looking forward to spending more time reading about this quirky haunted hotel.

Historia
A twisted tale of murder in the world of big-stakes bass fishing tournaments. Filled with ex-wives, evangelists, and an armed pit-bull, this is a story that could only be concocted by Carl Hiaasen, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, New York Times best-selling author, and czar of Florida noir fiction.

The only good thing about this book was the narrator's performance
Revisado: 08-19-23
This book started off with promise... a mystery about crooked dealings in the competitive bass fishing world. Unfortunately, with every chapter, the characters and situations became more ludicrous until the unsatisfying end, where almost everything was left unresolved. The narrator did a good job and has a voice that's easy to listen to.

Imaginative & entertaining
Revisado: 07-24-23
I enjoyed this fantasy and its interesting take on how magic enters and works in the world. The ending is open to new adventures, should the author choose to write more stories for Bridget, but if not, the ending is satisfying as is.

Good dramatic series
Revisado: 05-03-23
This series reminds me of James Patterson’s Alex Cross series… good crime mysteries with lots of family & community involvement, as well as a healthy dose of compassion, history, and wisdom about the Native American population. Good book!

Historia
The ancient magic of wizards was anything but dark. It was the enlightenment that lifted humanity from the squalor of superstition, and the worship of fell spirits and capricious gods, but those days are gone. The shining glory of the sorcerers burned away the subtlety of wisdom, replacing it with easy power, held only in the hands of the elite - a new age built upon the elemental supremacy of aristocrats and the ignorance of the masses.

Mystery, deception and magic… what’s not to like?
Revisado: 02-02-23
I like Mann’s writing style and character development. He tends to be a bit too callous with regard to getting readers to like characters & then killing them off, but otherwise, good story-telling. I felt a bit like the first story wasn’t finished when the book ended (one of my pet peeves) but I’ll take a gamble & get the second book. IMO, every book in a series should be written as a standalone, with just a teaser at the end to carry you into the next storyline. This book did not resolve anything… more like a two-part book. That’s quite unsatisfying. It was, however, interesting enough that I’m willing to give it one more try…

Historia
My name is Lottie Lemon and I see dead people. Okay, so I rarely see dead people - mostly I see furry creatures of the dearly departed variety. And for some reason, those sweet, fluffy, albeit paranormal cuties always seem to act as a not-so-great harbinger of deadly things to come for their previous owner. So when I saw that sweet orange tabby twirling around my landlord’s ankles, I figured Merilee was in for trouble. Personally, I was hoping for a skinned knee - what I got was a top spot in an open homicide investigation.

A Book of Muted Conflicts
Revisado: 10-22-22
In an incredibly hard to imagine set of circumstances, a babysitter begins dating the ex HS boyfriend of her boss. Each character keeps their thoughts to themselves and reconstructs events from the past to make themselves feel better, except one little girl, who says whatever is on her mind. It was difficult to cheer for anyone except the little girl, and the end of the book doesn’t provide a satisfactory end for her. An “ok” listen, but I wish the story ended further in the future, with better eventual outcomes for Ximera & Briar.
