Historia
Set in present-day Los Angeles, Junk explores an epic conspiracy, one at work for thousands of years that involves total takeover of the planet Earth by aliens. In the wild, souped-up vision of Les Bohem - the acclaimed, Emmy-winning writer of the Steven Spielberg miniseries, Taken - the world is at the end stage of long-range plot that involves a gigantic genetic-engineering project. The aliens who have invaded us have no planet. No spaceship is coming. Instead, a small advance force comes, breeds, and dies - thus becoming an anomaly in our DNA that can’t be explained.

Not Junk
Revisado: 03-07-19
First I had to accept that Waters was doing a straight read of this story with no character nuance as most audible narrators do. After that the story flows well with POV shifting beteen the characters who are often gobsmacked by what is happening to them. Some bat sh** crazy storylines in this apocalyptically future with alien DNA, excessively hedonistic “pluses”, not quite heroic heros, and a grim commentary on the human condition. If you can handle gore and graphic fiction with a not so subtle allusion to the current state of the human condition in America then give it a try.
Definitely not for readers who like clean and sanitized fiction. A good left turn for more adventurous listeners.

Historia
He was once a legendary highwayman. Now he's a recluse in a ruined French castle, with only a half-wild wolf for a companion. When Lady Leigh Strachan comes looking for a man to aid in her revenge, she's disillusioned to find that the famed Prince of Midnight couldn't help even if he cared to - which he doesn't. S. T. Maitland wants nothing to do with his legend, or with this fierce, beautiful, broken woman... until the old thrill of living on the cutting edge of danger begins to rise in his blood again.

I wanted to scream at the characters from time to time
Revisado: 06-19-18
Great story with multifaceted protagonist and heroine. Equestrian portions of story are told by a writer who knows horses very well. First time ever I did not cringe at the horse human interactions in a novel. As a equestrian, I can attest that the horse training rings with authenticity. One equestrian scene almost pulled a few tears out of me.
I also wanted to slap both of the main characters from time to time.
Still highly recommend this book. It's a great read/listen. The narrator is superb and I'd put him up as one of my favorite audible voices.

Fantastic Finale Does Not Disappoint.
Revisado: 02-23-16
I love this story and all the emotional highs and lows it throws. The feelings of the characters are well developed through dialog, while the deeper complexity of Darrow in his monologues fills in the gulfs between action and conversational scenes. I love how all the words in this story have meaning. There are simply no extra words. The story is sharp as the razors wielded by the Peerless Scarred. The plot twists, deceptions, loves, back stabbing, and family connections are wonderfully woven through the story making a full fledged epic tale of this dystopian uprising. Fitting and well done conclusion for the trilogy.
At one point in this story I had to stop and regroup for a day as my heart had enough trauma and I needed recovery time. Seriously, this book pushes you from the extreme of relief to the precipice of disaster and sadness time and time again.
Reynolds acting is fantastic and the nuances he imparts to Sevro and Victra are my favorite. The dialog between Sevro and Darrow made me laugh out loud many times. Sophmoric and silly, Sevro provides the perfect foil to the dread that rises throughout the story line. Expression and timing and voices of ALL the characters is so well done by Reynolds.
I usually listen while doing chores on my little ranch and there were many times in the story when I broke in to a huge grin and then jumped up and down pumping my fists, then sheepishly looked around to see if any local neighbors saw my antics. Yes, it's that good. If you listen you'll be cheering too.
