Historia
The best-known educator of the 20th century was a scammer in cashmere. "The most famous reading teacher in the world," as television hosts introduced her, Evelyn Wood had little classroom experience, no degrees in reading instruction, and a background that included a collaboration with the Third Reich. Nevertheless, a nation spooked by Sputnik and panicked by paperwork eagerly embraced her promises of a speed-reading revolution.

Revisado: 04-23-22
Having been sent to a speed reading course by my parents who insisted it would give me a leg up I know the truth though my parents insisted It must be me when I t0old them this didn't work. Book was well researched and so much good detail, I can't believe so many people were duped.

Historia
Every nation needs its creation myth, and since Texas was a nation before it was a state, it's no surprise that its myths bite deep. There's no piece of history more important to Texans than the Battle of the Alamo, when Davy Crockett and a band of rebels went down in a blaze of glory fighting for independence from Mexico, losing the battle but setting Texas up to win the war.

Should be used in the classroom
Revisado: 04-23-22
This is good account of what really happened and should be required reading, very little is taught on the history of the reason the Alamo in schools though I picked up bits and pieces over the years I was glad to see and listen to this truthful account and perspective.

Historia
Demonic possession. Exorcism. Haunted Houses. Satanic Rituals. For most people this is the stuff of nightmares, horror movies, folklore, and superstition. For New York City police Sergeant Ralph Sarchie, it's as real - and dangerous - as midnight patrol…. A 16-year NYPD veteran, Ralph Sarchie works out of the 46th Precinct in New York's South Bronx. But it is his other job that he calls "the Work": Investigating cases of demonic possession and assisting in the exorcisms of humanity's most ancient - and most dangerous - foes.

Revisado: 03-29-22
This book was so confusing and honestly just a constant discussion about “the demonic” and having faith, there were a lot of short interesting stories but not worth the time I spent listening to this, the narrator was fine it’s the material that was ridiculous

Historia
The Agile methodology is a project management methodology that uses short development cycles (called "sprints") to focus on continuous improvement in the development of a product or service. It consists of a family of methods (including Scrum, extreme programming (XP), test-driven development (TDD), and feature-driven development (FDD), each of which has the objective to provide a better product in less time, avoiding development of useless functions and overcoming errors that a traditional planning method could result in, both for big and small projects.

Maybe a good book not a good audio book
Revisado: 02-04-20
I purchased based on reviews but honestly have no idea how it got such a high rating. Its clear the narrator is reading it as he goes and does not use any emphasis and not sure he understood what he was reading and it shows. I had to return it, I cant speak to whether the book is any good but the narration ruins it.

Historia
As the true horrors of the Third Reich began to be exposed immediately after World War II, the Nazi war criminals who committed genocide went on the run. A few were soon caught, including the notorious SS leader Heinrich Himmler. Others, however, evaded capture through a sophisticated Nazi organization designed to hide them. Among them were Josef Mengele, the “Angel of Death” who performed hideous medical experiments at Auschwitz; Martin Bormann, Hitler’s brutal personal secretary; Klaus Barbie, the cruel "Butcher of Lyon"; and perhaps the most awful Nazi of all: Adolf Eichmann.

Historia
A Wicked War presents the definitive history of the 1846 war between the United States and Mexico - a conflict that turned America into a continental power. Amy Greenberg describes the battles between American and Mexican armies, but also delineates the political battles between Democrats and Whigs - the former led by the ruthless Polk, the latter by the charismatic Henry Clay and a young representative from Illinois named Abraham Lincoln. Greenberg brilliantly recounts this key chapter in the creation of the United States authority and narrative flair.

Historia
The emperor Justinian reunified Rome's fractured empire by defeating the Goths and Vandals. At his capital in Constantinople, he built the world's most beautiful building, married the most powerful empress, and wrote the empire's most enduring legal code, seemingly restoring Rome's fortunes for the next five hundred years. Then, in the summer of 542, he encountered a flea. The ensuing outbreak of bubonic plague killed 5,000 people a day in Constantinople and nearly killed Justinian himself.

Good but drags to make a point
Revisado: 03-10-16
Book is excellent, at time the books goes on and on to make sure you got the point that the ward was unnecessary and there is a lot of comments about what other books have to say about the war.
But the narrator was excellent so was worth sitting through it
