I found this one annoying- could not finish
Revisado: 02-12-23
The real deal breaker here for me was the chapter intros. These should have been left out of the audiobook. I don’t like changing voice actors mid series but for all I know it was unavoidable… what is avoidable is changing the whole vibe, accent, and pronunciations. I returned it. This is maybe the 3rd book out of hundreds I returned

But it’s not just the extra rupees in her pocket Nura is after. What a lovely surprise!
Revisado: 12-14-22
I started this book with low expectations. The book had only been reviewed 3 times, and it was a new author. The description of the story caught my attention, and so I decided to give it a shot, and I am so glad! I stayed riveted from beginning to end. The voice actor did the story good service as well. I hope that more books from this author are coming and personally I think this would make a great movie, play or series!

Compelling story
Revisado: 04-26-22
This was my first 5 star review from the plus catalog this year! It was a well written story that’s easy to listen to in one sitting. As a woman who worked in a male dominated field, I related quite a bit with the lead character as she navigated the old boys network of law enforcement

Both boring and bad
Revisado: 08-19-21
I don’t understand so many good reviews. I listened for about 3 hours when I decided I couldn’t listen to this anymore. There might be a good story here, but the writer never met a stereotype he didn’t like. The 1st person perspective is from a mediocre white man who calls women bitches and introduces every female character with how bangable they are. If you are under 25 and male, maybe it’s a fun read for you, but I can’t imagine anyone else liking it.

Laziest writer I ever wasted a credit on
Revisado: 02-20-21
Higgs never met a stereotype he didn't like. The characters have absolutely no emotional depth. a couple of cute dogs can't save a bad book. I looked to see if I could return it and get my credit back when I realized that I would not be able to keep listening to his descriptions of women. Seriously, these books are horrid.
Lazy and BORING writing from a shallow, entitled, male point of view.

This one is non linear and a bit surreal, but entertaining all the way. I had to go back and relisted a few times before I realized it makes sense only in the way dreams do for about the first half.

Another banger

I have been working my way through Rankin's catalog, and they keep delivering. Rankin's writing is a bit silly and convoluted, but I am consistently giggling as I listen. He is also quite talented as a narrator.

I look forward to reading more books from this author
Revisado: 11-17-20
While exploring some of the free books on Audible, I found Robert Rankin. What a delight! I find his style reminiscent of some of my favorite authors: Douglas Adams or Jasper Fforde. The story is light and fun escapism, not too heavy on the science fiction. I'm looking forward to reading more from Rankin, and I would like to thank the author for including some of his stand alone books in the free content.

Historia
After his town is put to the sword and the children are taken to replace the fallen, an old man is out for revenge. He’s ready to fail at the most difficult challenge in the world: cultivation. Too corrupted to even take the first steps, the sly old elder simply agreed with those who told him that it was impossible. Then, he quietly ignored them, rubbed his hands together, and started anyway. He had always failed in what he did. The only thing that had never failed him was his sharp mind and philosophy. He would cultivate...no matter what it cost him.

Narrator Travis Baldree greatly improved a decent book
Revisado: 07-06-20
I have listened to over 200 audio books over the years, and after a while you start to care as much about good narration as good books. Travis Baldree immediately reminded me of the late Frank Muller, one of my favorite voice actors of all time. Writing reviews isn't my forte, but wanted to give credit for a job well done.
