A bit difficult to understand plot compared to other Reacher novels.
Revisado: 10-25-24
Narration was really bad. Way too dramatic throughout. Very little difference in tone and manner between characters. Couldn’’t even tell difference whether it was a man or woman talking or Reacher. Very disappointing narration. Will avoid buying books where Bricker is the narrator.

Afterward, Bruce tells Mercer that he has stumbled upon an incredible story. Mercer desperately needs an idea for her next novel, and Bruce now has one. Expected a lot more from Grisham. Much of it boring and seemed like filler that wasn’t interesting. Very slow moving.

Historia
If Max Brod had obeyed Franz Kafka's dying request, Kafka's unpublished manuscripts would have been burned, unread. Fortunately, Brod ignored his friend's wishes and published The Trial, which became the author's most famous work. Now Kafka's enigmatic novel regains its humor and stylistic elegance in a new translation based on the restored original manuscript.

Now I know why Kafka didn’t want it published. So much repetition in the dialogue.

Historia
A single mother turns up dead at the bottom of the river that runs through town. Earlier in the summer, a vulnerable teenage girl met the same fate. They are not the first women lost to these dark waters, but their deaths disturb the river and its history, dredging up secrets long submerged. Left behind is a lonely 15-year-old girl. Parentless and friendless, she now finds herself in the care of her mother's sister, a fearful stranger who has been dragged back to the place she deliberately ran from - a place to which she vowed she'd never return.

Not a good listen.
Revisado: 05-06-17
Too many sub plots, too many characters. Quite frankly it seemed like the author was just putting fill material into the book to make it longer. She should have stopped with Girl on the Train or taken more time to develop an interesting plot. Waste of time and money.

Historia
The sleek high-rises of Park Avenue make Frank Clemons uneasy. The former Atlanta homicide detective came to New York after a sickening murder case soured him on the South, but despite the glitz and excitement of his new surroundings and the beauty of the woman he shares them with, the city makes his skin crawl. Now a private eye, he is only at ease in the city's darker corners, among the whores, gamblers, and pimps who call Eighth Avenue home. That affinity for the socially isolated is what draws him to the case of Hannah Karlsberg, an elderly seamstress who deserved a better death than she got.

Not so good
Revisado: 09-07-16
The narrator over dramatized almost the entire book. Way too theatrical. Part of the story was missing. The section between following Riviera and Frank taking some sort of canisters to the police. Feel ripped off on this one.
