Historia
The cozy little town of Pine Deep buried the horrors of its past a long time ago. Thirty years have gone by since the darkness descended and the Black Harvest began, a time when a serial killer sheared a bloody swath through the quiet Pennsylvania village. The evil that once coursed through Pine Deep has been replaced by cheerful tourists getting ready to enjoy the country’s largest Halloween celebration in what is now called “The Spookiest Town in America.”

A note is left on a car windshield, an old dog dies, and Kent Nerburn finds himself back on the Lakota reservation where he traveled more than a decade before with a tribal elder named Dan. The touching, funny, and haunting journey that ensues goes deep into reservation boarding-school mysteries, the dark confines of sweat lodges, and isolated Native homesteads far back in the Dakota hills in search of ghosts that have haunted Dan since childhood.

I really love this author this is the second book I've listened to. It's some hardcore native American truth that is long overdue. it's woven in story form so it doesn't feel like you're just listening to a boring history lesson. The characters are great and strong and the storyline difficult to listen to but important to know. It rings with truth as the story of our indigenous people in the United States went through . This is stories that nightmares are made from. it's about time their story and voice is heard is often as possible so we may learn from our mistakes. I recommend this book along with this author.

Historia
Deborah Harkness first introduced the world to Diana Bishop, an Oxford scholar and witch, and vampire geneticist Matthew de Clermont in A Discovery of Witches. Drawn to each other despite long-standing taboos, these two otherworldly beings found themselves at the center of a battle for a lost, enchanted manuscript known as Ashmole 782. Since then, they have fallen in love, traveled to Elizabethan England, dissolved the Covenant between the three species, and awoken the dark powers within Diana’s family line.

very disappointed in story line
Revisado: 08-06-24
You know I loved the three books. but when I got to this one it was just so repetitive and I found it boring. I finished it to the end. just hoping something about the story would catch me but it didn't. I think the series probably should have ended books ago. I will not be reading any more of this series for it's a lot of repeating of what we've already read. I really regret spending my credit on this book

Historia
A haunting dream that will not relent pulls author Kent Nerburn back into the hidden world of Native America, where dreams have meaning, animals are teachers, and the "old ones" still have powers beyond our understanding. In this moving narrative, we travel through the lands of the Lakota and the Ojibwe, where we encounter a strange little girl with an unnerving connection to the past, a forgotten asylum that history has tried to hide, and complex, unforgettable characters.

I really enjoyed this book as it was factual Indian history throughout the core of this book. Even though it's a book of fiction, you could hear the truth between the lines. I highly recommend this book

Historia
Growing up on the Navajo Indian Reservation, David Crow and his siblings idolized their dad. Tall, strong, smart, and brave, the self-taught Cherokee regaled his family with stories of his World War II feats. But as time passed, David discovered the other side of Thurston Crow, the ex-con with his own code of ethics that justified cruelty, violence, lies - even murder. A shrewd con artist with a genius IQ, Thurston intimidated David with beatings to coerce him into doing his criminal bidding. David's mom, too mentally ill to care for her children, couldn't protect him.

A great "read"
Revisado: 01-21-24
The story is captivating and very interesting. The narrator did a great job of narrating the book as well making it very easy to listen to. I found the story unique and kept me listening for hours a day. I was sorry when the book was over. I enjoyed all the characters and the twists and turns. I recommend this book. and look forward to reading more of this author's novels.
