Historia
Exploring the history and creation of a “witch’s familiar,” also known as a spirit double or guardian spirit, Maja D’Aoust shows how there is much more to these supernatural servant spirits and guardians than meets the eye. She reveals how witches are not the only ones to lay claim to this magician’s “assistant” and examines how the many forms of witch’s familiars are well known in folklore throughout Europe and America as well as in shamanic and magical traditions around the world, including Africa, India, and China.

interesting but not what I expected
Revisado: 02-14-22
I thought it might have more concepts about how to attain a familiar, instead it's about 90% speculative opinions being spoken as truth. It's more of an interpretation of history through the tint of 'WhAt IF', more like a fan fiction, than something I can trust.
The section about René Descartes is especially cringe worthy.

Something about the traditional music to the way it's spoken, makes this story beautiful. The production was great.

Historia
The so-called Tibetan Book of the Dead has been renowned for centuries as a cornerstone of Buddhist wisdom and religious thought. More recently, it has become highly influential in the Western world for its psychological insights into the processes of death and dying - and what they can teach us about the ways we live our lives. It has also been found to be helpful in the grieving process by people who have recently lost their loved ones. This authoritative translation preserves the form and spirit of the original and was prepared especially for Western audiences.

pet peeve
Revisado: 04-19-21
The author trying to provide context actually takes me out of wanting to hear it. I hate when translators do this. Do I know everything they are mentioning? No but my desire for hearing an unabridged version vastly outweighs whatever anyone has to say on the matter.

Historia
It is said that the practice of dream yoga deepens our awareness during all our experience: the dreams of the night; the dream-like experience of the day; and the bardo experiences after death. Indeed, the practice of dream yoga is a powerful tool of awakening, used for hundreds of years by the great masters of the Tibetan traditions. Unlike in the Western psychological approach to dreams, the ultimate goal of Tibetan dream yoga is the recognition of the nature of mind or enlightenment itself.

Historia
Considered one of China's great classical novels, Wu Ch'êng-ên's Journey to the West was translated by Arthur Waley in abridged form as Monkey in 1942 and has delighted English readers ever since. It is a riveting adventure story about a priest's quest to obtain holy Buddhist scriptures for the Tang emperor; joining him on this rollicking journey: Sandy, Pigsy, and the mischievous monkey king, Sun Wukong, whose flying cloud and magic cudgel are never far from his infamous deeds.

it's just a translation
Revisado: 12-22-19
I was expecting more of a southern draw from how people were reviewing this, so I was slightly disappointed when 1) there were no Asian words for the man to mispronounce and 2)his accent wasn't a thick and drawn out mess.
it's just a simple translation, there's hardly anything to mess up with how he reads it.

it might be what you need, maybe not. A fast and testimony day works fine, too. Best message I got from the book is to keep trying, because things don't just work like you think they will.

It's hard to find a reading of these scriptures without some sort of commentary. Overall it was a nice listen but I just wish to hear the words from the story and not what people have interpreted from them.
