In like a lion, out like a lamb
Revisado: 02-16-23
I devoured the first 7/8 of the book. I was could've done without the porn, but plot had me hooked! Then the ending came and my balloon popped (think Lifetime movie meets Days of Our Lives) Why?????!!!!!

Historia
Raised in the historic southern splendor of Natchez, Mississippi, Penn Cage learned all he knows of honor and duty from his father, Dr. Tom Cage. But now the beloved family doctor has been accused of murdering Viola Turner, the African-American nurse with whom he worked in the dark days of the 1960s. Penn is determined to save his father, but Tom, stubbornly invoking doctor-patient privilege, refuses to even speak in his own defense.

Southern dialect massacre!
Revisado: 05-13-20
As a woman from Mississippi, the dialect was so bad I almost returned the book. It’s miss uh sippy, not miss sippy, the rifle is called a 30 aught 6, not 30 0 6. I love a local writer but please use a Southern reader (Will Patton for example sounds perfect)

I would say spoiler alert but that would imply there was something to spoil
Revisado: 10-18-18
I read the reviews for this book and thought it would be about Oliver waking up and going through recovery. Nope. Bubble burst. Chapter after chapter the exact same events happened- Mom believes he will come out of it and steals or sleeps with her ex, Dad gets drunk and stays moody, brother is worthless, etc etc. The last two minutes we find out what we’ve been waiting for and then it’s over. And to think, I spent hours of my life and that’s it?

Prose Perfection
Revisado: 05-26-18
The narrator made the eloquent prose of the author come alive for me. I enjoyed listening to this book more than I would have if I’d read it and that has NEVER before been the case. The ending left me wanting more resolutions but it was well worth a listen.
