I wanted to read a story with a main character named Naomi because I never have had that opportunity before. I was surprised at how deeply touched I was by this pioneer woman, I would dream of her and struggled with her sorrows. The intense descriptions of place and person made it all so very real. I learned so much and felt so intensely the depth of tragedy and joy of Naomi, my hero.

The story pulled me through but the choppy narration was extremely distracting and I almost quit listening. She sounded like someone who learned English as a second language as an adult and read the story like a child.

Enchanting character development!

I just loved the main character! She had all the characteristics of a classic clumsy “head in the clouds” scientist but somehow being a girl it wasn’t so stereotypical as adorable. Hardworking, smart as a whip and kind as well.
The story line was exciting, with imaginative idea and it pulled you right along.
Can’t wait to read the next in the series!

My new favorite author. So very glad I listened to this as the varied British, Scot and Aussie accents were so amazing! Just WOW

Could not turn it off.

I couldn’t believe how well written this book was. I thoroughly enjoyed the audio and the voice actor was incredible. I am an old white lady and I could not turn this off. I stayed up to 4 o’clock in the morning listening to it. What a wonderful journey so thoroughly exploring someone else’s head and heart.
