Quinn shows that great women artist have always existed in the story, all we have to do is rewrite the book to include them.
Revisado: 12-05-21
If you want to change the way things exist, you don’t need to complain about it, you simply need to set about doing it. That is what Bridget Quinn has done in the inequity of women’s stories in art history. It isn’t shouting angrily from the pages about women vs. men in art. It is simply celebrating female artists, because they haven’t yet been celebrated. She has dutifully done the legwork of bringing overlooked stories to our attention so they can be added to the collective knowledge of the history of art. She shows that great women artist have always existed in the story, all we have to do is rewrite the book to include them.

A Surprisingly Helpful Program
Revisado: 10-11-16
Where does Rapid Arabic: Volumes 1 & 2 rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
I was surprised how much I like this program, considering it could be written off as a bit cheesy at first listen. It's in my top Arabic learning programs so far (and I've tried quite a few.) The reason I purchased the program was because I liked the specific music track behind the program on the sample. It was soothing and added to the learning experience. Some of the music on the Rapid programs samples for other languages seemed a little annoying to me, but I'm glad I went ahead because on the Arabic tracks the music actually fades into the background and helps with learning the vocabulary and phrases. There is plenty of useful dialogue on this, as well as explanation of what you're hearing. The "learner" on the tracks will often respond with helpful insight about what he has just heard which makes the words and phrases make much more sense than a simple repetition track. I find that the vocabulary and dialogue given in this method are easy to remember because you are experiencing the conversations and not just repeating sounds that have little connection with you. You won't learn everything, but as a complete beginner it's been hard to find ways to hear and learn vocabulary to go with the grammar and script learning that one has to do when starting Arabic.

Great way to practice the Arabic you've learned
Revisado: 10-11-16
What made the experience of listening to Arabic (Modern Standard) Level 1 Lessons 1-5 the most enjoyable?
The hardest part about learning Arabic has been recalling the things I've learned quickly when on the spot. To know words and phrases is nice, but very different than being able to recall them in Arabic conversation situations. The best thing about this approach is that is forces you to quickly recall the things you've learned while giving you beneficial vocabulary and phrases that build by repetition. It would be useful without prior exposure to grammar but if you study grammar outside of this program it will really help you recognize and reinforce your grammar and verb understanding. You won't learn every word you'll ever need to know but you will know the words and phrases you've learned on this program very well, as well as be able to use parts of this to form your own conversation with the vocabulary you've learned outside of this program. In a short time it has already helped my brain respond quicker and without the "deer in the headlights" look on my face that I often have when addressed in Arabic. ;) It's like having someone to converse with in Arabic who will correct your mistakes and is amply patient.
