Historia
Ashley Perrin is fresh out of college and starting a job as a community liaison for the Third District–the city’s only sector with more alien residents than humans. Ashley’s barely found where the paper clips are kept when she’s beset with constituent complaints–from too much noise at the Annual Lupidian Celebration Parade to a trip-and-fall chicken to a very particular type of alien hornet that threatens the very city itself. And if that’s not terrifying enough, Ashley is next up at the office karaoke night.

Great quick listen. Look forward to more!
Revisado: 01-22-25
Fantastic character and world building! Very funny. I want more !!! I hope this becomes a series. John Scalzi has proved himself a great and wonderfully imaginative writer and is reminiscent of some of my favorites like Sir Terry Pratchett, Neil Gaiman, Christopher Moore, Drew Hayes and Jody Taylor.

Historia
You are about to travel to Edgecombe St. Mary, a small village in the English countryside filled with rolling hills, thatched cottages, and a cast of characters both hilariously original and as familiar as the members of your own family. Among them is Major Ernest Pettigrew (retired), the unlikely hero of Helen Simonson's wondrous debut. Wry, courtly, opinionated, and completely endearing, Major Pettigrew is one of the most indelible characters in contemporary fiction, and from the very first page of this remarkable novel he will steal your heart.

Historia
War has come to Discworld...again. And, to no one's great surprise, the conflict centers around the small, insufferably arrogant, strictly fundamentalist duchy of Borogravia, which has long prided itself on its ability to beat up on its neighbors. This time, however, it's Borogravia that's getting its long-overdue comeuppance, which has left the country severely drained of young men.

YOU CAN'T GO WRONG WITH PRATCHETT AND BRIGGS!!!
Revisado: 12-15-22
I first learned about Terry Pratchett a year ago. I have listened to 16 of his books since and read (as in paperback book in hand) 4. I cannot believe it took me this long in life to find Terry Pratchett (I am 41) but I couldn't be happier that I did! Every story is so wonderfully written, the characters are so well developed that you can't help but feel like you really know them. The story lines are unique, full of hilarity and so completely engaging that you hope the book never ends. Luckily Sir Pratchett was such a prolific writer that I still have much more to read and listen to! As for Stephen Briggs was a fantastic narrator and truly the right choice for anything Discworld and beyond. He has perfect cadence and his character voicing is incredibly engaging! I rarely write an extended review but I feel compelled to in this case. ANYTHING TERRY PRATCHETT IS WORTH READING OR LISTENING TO AND LISTENING TO ANYTHING STEPHEN BRIGGS WILL BRING OUT THE BEST IN ANY BOOK!

Historia
Betrayed, terrified and alone, Elizabeth Cage has fled her home. With no plan and no friends, she arrives at the picturesque village of Greyston and finds herself involved in an ages-old ceremony that will end in death. And that might be the least of her problems - the Sorensen Institute would very much like to know her whereabouts. And Michael Jones is still out there, somewhere, she hopes. No matter how far and how fast she can run, trouble will always find Elizabeth Cage.

Changed Narrator-too old for main character
Revisado: 05-09-22
The story was wonderful but it took a long time to get over the narrator. i generally dislike when a narrator is changed in a series and this was the case here as well.. She, the narrator wasn't bad, just wrong for this book/main character. She sounded too old for the main character and that really took something away from listening pleasure. However, once I was able to get over the narrator choice I really enjoyed the story. The storyline was wonderful and I look forward to next in series- hopefully with more appropriate narrator.

Historia
Jodi Taylor’s best-selling series The Chronicles of St. Mary is back with a bang…St. Mary’s has been rebuilt, and it’s business as usual for the history department. But first there’s the little matter of a 17th-century ghost that only Mr. Markham can see. Not to mention the minor inconvenience of being trapped in the Great Fire of London…and an unfortunately timed comfort break at Thermopylae, leaving the fate of the Western world hanging in the balance.

Historia
Returning to the territory he so brilliantly explored in his masterful New York Times best seller American Gods, the incomparable Neil Gaiman offers up a work of dazzling ingenuity, a kaleidoscopic journey deep into myth that is at once startling, terrifying, exhilarating, and fiercely funny, a true wonder of a novel that confirms Stephen King's glowing assessment of the author as "a treasure house of story, and we are lucky to have him."

Although much different from American Gods and not at all what I was expecting still a very fun listen! I hope there are more to come. The narrator does an incredible job with voicing the different characters and can make you love some, hate others. I was sad to have it end.

Great Narrator and Aggravating Story
Revisado: 11-24-19
I really wanted to love this story but the main character just kills me with all stupid decisions and ends on that very note. However, the Narrator (who as also the Author) was incredible her voice is soothing and addictive. I just wish her story was as great as her ability to read it. Overall I am just supremely disappointed in this book, it had so much potential to be great and fell flat instead.

Her boss, private detective Cormoran Strike, is less surprised but just as alarmed. He suspects that four people from his past could be responsible - and any one of them is capable of sustained and unspeakable brutality. With the police focusing on the one suspect Strike has essentially ruled out, he and Robin take matters into their own hands and delve into the dark and twisted worlds of the other three men.

Historia
When novelist Owen Quine goes missing, his wife calls in private detective Cormoran Strike. At first, Mrs. Quine just thinks her husband has gone off by himself for a few days - as he has done before - and she wants Strike to find him and bring him home. But as Strike investigates, he discovers that Quine's disappearance is no coincidence. The novelist has just completed a manuscript featuring poisonous pen-portraits of almost everyone he knows. If the novel were published, it would ruin lives - meaning that almost everyone in his life would have motives to silence him.
