Historia
In a beautiful old apartment block, deep in the backstreets of Paris, secrets are stirring behind every resident’s door. The lonely wife. The party animal. The curtain-twitcher. The secret lover. Bored senseless
Revisado: 03-02-24
Don’t know if my rating counts for anything. I became so bored with this book. Do NOT what the big hooha is about. If I listened to this book while navigating traffic I might fall asleep and cause an accident. I didn’t enjoy the characters and the suspense (if I can call it that) was repetitive. Won’t be following Lucy Foley

Historia
The unapologetic intensity with which Emily Brontë wrote this story ensures that it will forever be considered one of the greatest works of English literature. A passionate tale of a chaotic and often violent love, Wuthering Heights transcends your average romance and, with its Gothic undertones, takes the listener on a journey through one man's lustful hunt for revenge.

Deeply emotional
Revisado: 03-02-24
I love the Bronte sisters. This particular Audible version really does the drama justice. Thandiwe Newton, you brought these characters to life, thank you.
It took me a long time to evercome the anger I felt for the injustice against the young Jane. But that made me celebrate the adult Jane that much more.
I felt every emotion, dark and uplifting. I will recommend this period drama to anyone who enjoys this genre.

One Thursday lunchtime the Earth gets unexpectedly demolished to make way for a new hyperspace bypass. For Arthur Dent, who has only just had his house demolished that morning, this seems already to be more than he can cope with.

Cannot believe it took me this long to read Douglas Adams. Listening to the audible version was a blast. Light on angst, heavy on the hilarious. Fantastic narration.

Historia
Charlie Reade looks like a regular high school kid, great at baseball and football, a decent student. But he carries a heavy load. His mom was killed in a hit-and-run accident when he was 10, and grief drove his dad to drink. Charlie learned how to take care of himself—and his dad. Then, when Charlie is 17, he meets a dog named Radar and his aging master, Howard Bowditch, a recluse in a big house at the top of a big hill, with a locked shed in the backyard. Sometimes strange sounds emerge from it.

An unconventionally ordinary tale
Revisado: 06-06-23
First off, I had doubts about the narrator. Maybe it was Mr King’s fault though. The story started with a lot of “where’s this going” feels. The narrator sounded so young! Like a 17 year old boy… duh. The point is, I ended up loving this narration. Perfect in fact. The story? There was a beginning, a middle and an end. I had mixed feelings about Mr B but I loved Charlie (though either he or Mr King had a serious potty mouth). There are some parts in the middle, as with some other famous works of fiction, where the story is merely moving from point A to B to C (and eventually D). Deep into C, listening to the story while navigating seriously horrendous traffic, I might not know how I got from A to B in my own world. The storytelling was intense and intensely superb. I appreciated the ending. I wanted the story to end and it was just in time. Any more and I would have lost interest. It isn’t epic and it’s nothing new but it’s a compelling twist on an old fairytale.

Historia
Following Jane from her childhood as an orphan in Northern England through her experience as a governess at Thornfield Hall, Charlotte Brontë's Gothic classic is an early exploration of women's independence in the mid-19th century and the pervasive societal challenges women had to endure. At Thornfield, Jane meets the complex and mysterious Mr. Rochester, with whom she shares a complicated relationship that ultimately forces her to reconcile the conflicting passions of romantic love and religious piety.

Outstanding read
Revisado: 03-19-23
I read this book many many years ago, before I had the emotional intelligence to fully appreciate the depth of its emotion. As wildly passionate as her sister, Emily’s read is, so incredibly deep is the forgiveness and unconditional love of Charlotte’s pen. And the voice of T Newton! I was enthralled from beginning to end. Bravo!

Historia
Twenty years ago, a wealthy British financier disappeared near Ubar, the fabled lost city buried beneath the sands of Oman. Now, an expedition of scientists, led by the financier’s daughter, is finally setting off for the legendary metropolis to unlock the desert’s secrets. What they find, however, is more beautiful than they ever dreamed — and far deadlier. Within Ubar is a powerful energy source that could fuel the entire earth above — if it can be harnessed.

A DNF for me
Revisado: 02-26-23
I’m afraid this book bored me to tears. The dialogue is poor and unfortunately the narrator tried too hard to sound British. Some aspects of the story are well done but it’s too much description of action and not much depth of action. It seems to progress but it really doesn’t. The characters only develop through narration (and that’s too little show and a lot of tell), and not by action. Especially the female characters are very stereotypical. Not for me.
