2017 Audie Award??
Revisado: 01-18-20
I'm almost to a point where I won't buy an audible if there's more than narrator and this book is a great example why. Bray and Colacci are good in their own rights and play their characters well. Each chapter focuses on a main character and depending on the character the appropriate narrator would narrate the entire chapter. But the two main characters interact often so throughout the book you're hearing both main characters in two different voices. This is annoying to me. But what makes it worse is there is ONE chapter (out of over 50) focused on Lila and so they bring in McFadden for that one chapter. Why??? Now I've heard Brody in three different voices!! Ugh! We've already heard Bray and McFadden play Lila a lot throughout the book, why bring in McFadden?? It's terrible listening, truly. The story itself is pretty good and suspenseful. But the narration is a fail in my book.

Historia
Imagine a perfect society. A world with no racism, sexism, or ageism. A utopia. In Utopia 58, everyone is equal. Everyone must be equal. Too beautiful? A mask will hide that pretty face. Too tall? We'll saw your legs down to size. Too male or female? The surgeon's knife will fix that. Too smart? A buzzer in your skull will drown out all that pesky thinking. You will be equal. Like it or not. Utopia 58, built atop the ruins of North America, created perfect harmony. A society with no race, gender, or age. Pure equality. KB209 was born into this utopia.

Starts great, ends terribly
Revisado: 09-14-19
I loved the main premise of the book, almost Handmaid's Tale in some ways. The main character at the beginning of the book had great struggles and used clever ingenuity but somehow turns into Jason Borne by the end of the book. Speaking of the end of the book, let's just leave it as highly disappointing. It was a ridiculous ending to a ridiculous book that started really well.

Historia
United Nations Special Operations Command sent an elite expeditionary force of soldiers and pilots out on a simple recon mission, and somehow along the way they sparked an alien civil war. Now the not-at-all-merry band of pirates is in desperate trouble, again. Their stolen alien starship is falling apart, thousands of light years from home. The ancient alien AI they nicknamed Skippy is apparently dead, and even if they can by some miracle revive him, he might never be the same.

It's just gets better with each book

If you could sum up Zero Hour in three words, what would they be?
Funny, Adventurous, Unique
Who was your favorite character and why?
Skippy is a great character and blend of amazingly incredible abilities and intelligence mixed with a total lack of common sense and inability to do anything. He's the perfect complement to the merry band of pirates.
What about R. C. Bray’s performance did you like?
RC Bray is obviously one of the best narrators around. I've loved every book of his that he's narrated and I would say this book is by FAR his best yet. Because this is the 5th book RC Bray has grown more and more accustomed to each character and brings them to life. What really stands out though in this book is the how well he delivers humor from the book. Whether it's Skippy singing or joke telling he just truly does an amazing job.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
The Merry Band of Pirates
Any additional comments?

Amazing narration
Revisado: 10-13-17
This is a good story with several twists and turns and some good action and suspense. The story is more adventure than sci fi.
The narration though. Wow. Talk about someone that understands the characters, the plot and the intent. Ray Portet is a star and I've listened to several of his narrations. This one is at another level, enjoy!

Historia
When the obituary of legendary computer game architect Matthew Sobol appears online, a previously dormant daemon activates, initiating a chain of events that begins to unravel our interconnected world. This daemon reads news headlines, recruits human followers, and orders assassinations. With Sobol’s secrets buried with him, and as new layers of his daemon are unleashed, it’s up to Detective Peter Sebeck to stop a self-replicating virtual killer before it achieves its ultimate purpose - one that goes far beyond anything Sebeck could have imagined.

Frustratingly maddening book!
Revisado: 09-10-16
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
I didn't make it through the book, so no it was not time well spent. I kept wondering why so many of the characters, especially any that had to do with law enforcement, were such complete idiots throughout the book. Nobody talks like what is portrayed and there's not an ounce of common sense coming from most of the characters. The most gullible and shallow people in the world are in this book including the first guy that gets killed who basically thinks "oh, you got me..hahahaha..good one!"
What was most disappointing about Daniel Suarez’s story?
It's ironic to me that the far fetched computer taking over everything is the most realistic part of the book which makes the actual humans in the book the most disappointing. There's no substance or intelligence in them.
Which scene was your favorite?
The scene with an agent trying to get to the server room was excellent. Easily the smartest human in the book and I enjoyed his battle with the house.
Do you think Daemon needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
Didn't finish the book, but from what I read: no.
Any additional comments?
Judging from other comments if you like the book after the first couple of hours then keep on reading. If not, it doesn't get better.

Overdone
Revisado: 08-20-16
If you enjoy a book with a lot of killing, fairly predictable results and obvious power played then this is the book for you. It's amazing to me how our protagonist always evades his enemies except the times they just want to talk and then it's super easy to find and talk to him. The story centers in violence more than strategy or suspense.
