Historia
Once upon a time Orla was: a woman, a painter, a lover. Now she is a mother and a wife, and when her husband Nick suggests that their city apartment has grown too small for their lives, she agrees, in part because she does agree, and in part because she is too tired to think about what she really does want. She agrees again when Nick announces with pride that he has found an antiquated Georgian house on the Dorset cliffs—a good house for children, he says, tons of space and gorgeous grounds. But as the family settles into the mansion—Orla finds herself unsettled.

Relatable to Mothers
Revisado: 03-26-25
Great story and I felt it very relatable to Mothers and the love for their children but at the same time I was hopping for a more vivid and happier ending. Why didn’t the author go into details of the mysterious people that were seen in the house (what was their story?). Leaves you hanging a bit with a sense of despair.

Historia
Josie Bianci was killed years ago on a train during a terrorist attack. Gone forever. It’s what her sister, Kit, an ER doctor in Santa Cruz, has always believed. Yet all it takes is a few heart-wrenching seconds to upend Kit’s world. Live coverage of a club fire in Auckland has captured the image of a woman stumbling through the smoke and debris. Her resemblance to Josie is unbelievable. And unmistakable. With it comes a flood of emotions - grief, loss, and anger - that Kit finally has a chance to put to rest: by finding the sister who’s been living a lie.

A bit boring
Revisado: 02-25-24
The whole book is a memoir that goes back and forth between the 2 sisters lives. The younger sisters voice sounds dreamy and too poetic and the older sister sumber and depressed, not at all how they physically are imagined described as beautiful. It is incredibly boring to listen to them remember their past I could barley get thru it. It gets to the climax toward the last 3 hours or so if the book, and has a happy ending.

It’s hard to find an employer who doesn’t ask too many questions about my past. So I thank my lucky stars that the Garricks miraculously give me a job, cleaning their stunning penthouse with views across the city and preparing fancy meals in their shiny kitchen. I can work here for a while, stay quiet until I get what I want.

Great! Refreshingly new yet still as good as the first!
Revisado: 11-22-23
This was great! I loved every moment! Honestly thought it’ll be just another version of the first book but it’s refreshingly suspenseful with so many twists and great happy endings! My only thing was when she does Millie’s voice it sounds like an older New York women in her 50’s, it’s hard to imagine her being beautiful and young with the strange voice. But all that aside it was wonderful!

But she soon finds out...and by the time I realize my attic bedroom door only locks from the outside, it’s far too late. But I reassure myself: The Winchesters don’t know who I really am. Historia
Molly Gray is not like everyone else. She struggles with social skills and misreads the intentions of others. Her gran used to interpret the world for her, codifying it into simple rules that Molly could live by. Since Gran died a few months ago, twenty-five-year-old Molly has been navigating life’s complexities all by herself. No matter—she throws herself with gusto into her work as a hotel maid. Her unique character, along with her obsessive love of cleaning and proper etiquette, make her an ideal fit for the job.

Lovely
Revisado: 03-16-23
I really enjoyed listening to this story. Love the narrator and it reminds me of an early 20th century low key mystery. Molly most definitely has Asperger’s and is kind of like “Amelia Bededilia” but I imagine her less humorous. It was a bit frustrating that they couldn’t see to diagnose her before she sat trial so that her behavior is less confusing to the court and everyone else around her, but it shows that she was able to move past her challenges. Another question I have, is Mr. Preston her grandpa then? All in all cute story! ❤️

Basically a Diary
Revisado: 02-23-23
An intriguing event takes place and that’s pretty much the only suspense. The rest is a story about a Moms and teens relationship with one another. It’s basically a diary of the Mom and the daughter, a bit mundane. I have to say that Verity has nerves of steal and is a great example to “bite your tongue” but doubt it would happen in reality.

So Boring….
Revisado: 02-06-23
The story just kept dragging and I couldn’t take it anymore, only got thru about 3 hours of it till I just couldn’t anymore.
I usually listen to the stories while driving, with this one I kept trying not to fall asleep-lol.
I’ve read “Midnight at the Blackbird Cafe” by this author and it started off slow but I got thru it. I feel like she over charecterizes every single detail of the person she’s writing about, it’s honestly too much to know about their very bit of emotion and feeling, just get to the point. And the narrator sounds a bit depressing to me as well.

Light at the end…

I love how this book intertwines several taboo subjects and brings them to light while always remembering G-d. Beautiful story. I only wish the performance by the reader wasn’t as somber and depressive like.
