Historia
Seven generations of women in Susana Prather’s family have been lost to the Georgia swamp behind her house. The morning after her eighteenth birthday, she awakens soaked with water, with no memory of sleepwalking. No matter how she tries to stop it, she’s pulled from her safe bed night after night, haunted by her own family history and legacy. Now, the truth feels unavoidable: it’s only a matter of time before she loses her mind and the swamp becomes her grave.

LOVED IT!!
Revisado: 11-16-23
I loved it. I even listened to the author’s note at the end. I loved the symbolism, and the historical legend/folklore that was woven throughout the story. I LOVED the psychological aspects And the underlying theme of breaking generational curses. It had a kind of a surprise ending with a somewhat apocalyptical feel, but yet still hit the realm of believable as well as symbolic.

Historia
Trevor Benson never intended to move back to New Bern, North Carolina. But when a mortar blast outside the hospital where he worked sent him home from Afghanistan with devastating injuries, the dilapidated cabin he'd inherited from his grandfather seemed as good a place to regroup as any. Tending to his grandfather's beloved beehives, Trevor isn't prepared to fall in love with a local...yet, from their very first encounter, Trevor feels a connection with deputy sheriff Natalie Masterson that he can't ignore.

I love Nicholas Sparks but.
Revisado: 11-11-20
Nicholas Sparks is one of my favorite authors but this story seemed underdeveloped. I never bought into the relationship between Trevor and Natalie. The subplot with Callie dragged and then was rushed. The character interactions overall were forced. Normally I find myself drawn to their mysterious pasts or intrigued by their secrets but this one was just meh.

Doesn’t live up to the reputation
Revisado: 10-16-20
I read “The Rules of Magic” before this book and they don’t even seem like they were written by the same author. The voices are so different. I cared about the characters in “The Rules of Magic” but it seemed like the story dragged on forever in “Practical Magic.” I never felt like I developed a relationship with these characters and I bounced back and forth in their stories like a tennis ball. I’m not quite finished and, honestly, I wouldn’t keep going if I wasn’t close to the end. The readers are vastly different, too. The reader of “Practical Magic” gets on my last nerve. She reads like a kindergarten teacher and her voices are annoying. I don’t know what the hype was all about for all these years. Skip it or you’ll wish you had.

Pretty good story
Revisado: 02-14-19
This book was pretty interesting - the characters were engaging and I wanted to know more about them. I liked the setting - this was the primary reason I downloaded this book. I will try to read another. The only negative part was I couldn't listen to it with my son in the car, which is something we like to do together, because of the overuse of the "f-word."

These stories read more like paragraphs. Nothing really interesting about them. I guess it puts you to sleep all right.

Historia
As dusk approaches a small Dublin suburb in the summer of 1984, mothers begin to call their children home. But on this warm evening, three children do not return from the dark and silent woods. When the police arrive, they find only one of the children gripping a tree trunk in terror, wearing blood-filled sneakers, and unable to recall a single detail of the previous hours. Twenty years later, the found boy, Rob Ryan, is a detective on the Dublin Murder Squad and keeps his past a secret.

Unresolved ending
Revisado: 02-14-19
This story began as a very fascinating story - I loved how the past kept cropping up. I was disappointed that the story from 1984 was never resolved. What really, was the point of including it? Did I miss something in the last droning hours while Rob went on and on? I began to dislike him, and mistrust him, somewhere along the second half of the book. His jerkiness was never redeemed, his mystery never solved, the truly guilty never really made to pay...so many questions left unanswered.
