Historia
The United States, the richest country on earth, has more poverty than any other advanced democracy. Why? Why does this land of plenty allow one in every eight of its children to go without basic necessities, permit scores of its citizens to live and die on the streets, and authorize its corporations to pay poverty wages?

disappointing beginning
Revisado: 05-02-23
My sense of the first two chapters of this book is that they are almost entirely comprised of a series of statistics, few of which—maybe only two of thirty or forty—suggested causation. Hence, for me, an unpromising and, at best, slow beginning to the book—and the reason I quit listening to it at the end of the first two chapters. An extra star was given for the possibility that the book might later shift to explanation/causation.

An important topic. Regardless, I gave up on listening to this book in chapter 2 due to my sense of the book's lack of concision and frequent repetitions. I don’t know if both problems were ameliorated in later chapters.

Historia
The Seven Storey Mountain is the extraordinary spiritual testament of Thomas Merton (1915-1968), a man who experienced life to its fullest in the world before entering a Trappist monastery. By the end of his life, he had become one of the 20th century's best-known and beloved Christian voices. This autobiography deals...not with what happens to a man, but what happens inside his soul.

Any additional comments?
This book seemed inadequately developed. further, some transitions, probably where material was omitted, were awkward. i would recommend looking for a fuller or unabridged version.
