Confusion
Revisado: 04-03-24
Not suotable for audio. There are to many names, factions, etc. I got lost early on.
But there is a good story here, even if it is a little too close to "Mass Effect"🙂

Historia
Titus Crown is the first Black sheriff in the history of Charon County, Virginia. In recent decades, Charon has had only two murders. After years of working as an FBI agent, no one knows better than Titus that while his hometown might seem like a land of moonshine, cornbread, and honeysuckle, secrets always fester under the surface. But a year after Titus's election, a school teacher is killed by a former student. The student is then fatally shot by Titus's deputies. As Titus investigates the shootings, he unearths terrible crimes, and a serial killer who has been hiding in plain sight.

The perfect narration
Revisado: 03-27-24
Dark and dripping of human evil, but it still has a heart. Murder, racism, fantatical christianity and the worst of humanity blends together in the town of Charon where a sheriff has to solve an unimaginable crime before the town, and his soul, falls apart.
The narration lifts this excellent book up to another level. This is the best I've heard/read in a long time. Highly recommended, but be warned: This is brutal and might not be for everyone.

Historia
When Pentagon bioterror operative Roberto Diaz was sent to investigate a suspected biochemical attack, he found something far worse: a highly mutative organism capable of extinction-level destruction. He contained it and buried it in cold storage deep beneath a little-used military repository. Now, after decades of festering in a forgotten sub-basement, the specimen has found its way out and is on a lethal feeding frenzy. Only Diaz knows how to stop it.

Bad, just very, very, bad
Revisado: 01-14-24
Badly written, the characters are ridiculous, the plot is as believable as a flat earth conspiracy, it is all just terrible. The narrator is OK when he narrates, but the voices he uses sound like parodies (one sounds exactly like the main character in "King of the Hill")

What a narrator!
Revisado: 10-17-23
The story was not quite what I expected (expected more from the courtroom), but I still enjoyed it. The story might not be that special but Sissy Spaceks narration is among the best I have ever heard. She was the perfect choice for this book 🙂

Historia
When the Air National Guard receives an emergency call for help from a remote Arctic research station in Greenland, Senior Master Sergeant Dan Cameron is chosen to lead the rescue mission. In an attempt to combat climate change, the scientists have genetically engineered an aquatic biofilm capable of generating oxygen and lowering the temperature of the underlying seawater, producing environmental conditions that awaken an organism that has lain dormant beneath the ocean floor for millions of years.

Smart people actong like morons
Revisado: 04-15-23
The idea is not bad, it's been done (better) before but still, not bad. Moronic scientist create something they can't control and shit hits the fan.
The book suffers from one thing on particular: I didn't vare about anyone. Several characters are introduced but they never become more than names.
The narration is fine, but maybe a little dull.

Revisado: 02-04-23
This is the last of nine books in this series, and it does not disappoint. I will not go into the story (you need to read/listen to the other eight first anyway 🙂) but I can say that the stakes are high and the action intense as the fate of humanity is decided.
Many series struggle at the finish line, luckily that is not the case here 😁
Mark Boyett is a perfect match for Dalzelles writing.

Heart warming and heart breaking
Revisado: 11-16-22
Grant tells the story of his life with dialect coach Joan Washington while at the same time describing her last years battling cancer.
Grant is funny, and his love for his late wife radiates through his words. In the same way his grief and loss hits you like a punch to the gut.
Through the book he speaks of other famous people, but not a bad word is said about anyone you can identify. Actors Melissa McCarthy and Gabriel Byrne comes out of his story in a very positive way.
While Grant does not impersonate others he effortlessly swaps between different accents and dialects (maybe he learned from his wife:)).

Historia
Sixteen-year-old Charlie Ovid, despite a brutal childhood in Mississippi, doesn't have a scar on him. His body heals itself, whether he wants it to or not. Marlowe, a foundling from a railway freight car, shines with a strange bluish light. He can melt or mend flesh. When a jaded female detective is recruited to escort them to safety, all three begin a journey into the nature of difference, and belonging, and the shadowy edges of the monstrous. What follows is a story of wonder and betrayal.

Unoriginal, inconsistent and far, far, too long.
Revisado: 08-07-22
It starts okay, and it seems promising. Then nothing happens... Yes, there are passages that work, but most of the time it's just words, words, words. Why use a sentence when you can make it into a chapter? And that character that seemed so important, yeah, she serves no purpose.
The magic changes whenever the story needs it to change and is one big mess.
On the plus side it is not obsessed with the sexuality of its characters as a lot of new fantasy appeares to be.
The narrator is good, but why does one of the young girls sound like a chainsmoking old man with asthma?

Historia
It's been 30 years since the apocalypse and 15 years since the murder of the last human being at the hands of robots. Humankind is extinct. Every man, woman, and child has been liquidated by a global uprising devised by the very machines humans designed and built to serve them. Most of the world is controlled by an OWI - One World Intelligence, the shared consciousness of millions of robots uploaded into one huge mainframe brain.

One major flaw
Revisado: 07-10-22
This story is told by an AI, a robot. What hinders this book from being really good is that you never get the sense that an AI is telling the story. Brittle, the narrator, and the other robots are too human. In "Children of Time" the story is told through the eyes of a spider, and it feels completely alien, but here the narrator just feels human.

What a mess!
Revisado: 01-19-22
The narration is wonderful🙂
Sadly, this is a disjointed, jumbled, mess of a story. It has the focus of a story written by a small child. New characters, new locations, new ideas, new timelines, new perspectives and just to make it worse - alternate realities.
It's a story about everything and nothing. It started promising, but soon the author gets lost in his own story in his attempt to be clever. He writes well, I'll give him that, but the story is a trainwreck.
