This was good but seemed to lack. something?

What to say about Acheron. The first 2/3 of the book is very difficult to listen to or read. It's brutal and cruel, but it does explain Ash's life, but I think it was just a little bit TOO long. Like another reviewer wrote, we got that he was treated like crap with the first few hundred pages, still, it was over 400 pages of brutality and hate. She broached a lot of taboo subjects and for that I have to give her props.

Rape, incest, brutality and sexual violence were deeply ingrained in most of this book and some people are very sensitive to that kind of thing.

For years my friend and I have been trying to figure out who Ash's HEA would be and it turns out I was right.

As for their interaction, she seemed to deal with him and everything that he is/was with a grain of salt and it was almost too easy in that regard. Maybe it was because of his past, that he needed someone, just once, to say ok, I'll take you as you are.

Ash wanted/needed love. To be loved and to know love. He gets that with this book, but I can't help but wonder how this will change him in the future of the series.

I also wonder about his brother and what happens with him at the end of the book. Somethings were done to death and others seemed to be glossed over quickly where I think they should have been explored and explained more for a more in depth view of it all.

It was nice to see some old faces also, but again, not much was new or settled there. They were just kinda there to say that they were.

Things with Nick are still bitter and raw and Artie, man, she's a piece of work. I can't wait until she gets hers.

It is at times hard to imagine that Ash, the leader of the DH let people treat him like he had for thousands of years. sometimes I wonder simply. WHY didn't he just LEAVE? Get on a ship and go somewhere else? Walk out of his fathers house when he was old enough? Why sit there, where everyone hates you. He could have saved himself a lot of pain.

I've read the book twice...

And still, at times, this brought tears to my eyes. Even though it was 'read' by a woman, she does Talon and Sunshine's voice's so different, that it's like more than one person reading. Fantastic. This makes me remember WHY I love this series.

Her last few stories weren't all that great, but this makes me remember and makes me excited for Ash's story coming out Aug 5th :)

Ordering the next one now. :)

LOVED IT!

It was funny and witty. It made me laugh out loud and cry. I loved the references to the 80's in it and the people in it seemed real and flawed. It was refreshing to listen to a book that didn't have the same sentence repeated 10 different ways to drive the point home.

The sex was hot and very yummy... It really makes you wonder.. what if... I wish I could find more books like this w/ a little bit more slash involved in them. Quite yummy. Well worth the money if you are open minded to this kind of thing. I hope she writes more like this.

It's nice to "read" about a different time. This takes place in the 20's where men were (usually) gentlemen and women were ladies.

A good solid story but if you're looking for a lot of sex.. don't buy this. A different twist to a vampire story.

The reader was easy to listen to and not annoying like some others have been.

I think it was well worth the money and/or credit

The books good, but

The reader made Maddie sound like such and air headed child. Other than that, it was a good book. I purchased the whole 4 book set and this was the only one she annoyed me in.

I realized that Maddie was supposed to be 'bubbly' but YIKES!!! It was grating.

Great book!

I just got this the other day and I'm almost finished with it. It's a great book and her style reminds me a lot of Nora Roberts.

I chose this for something different and I'd never heard of her before but the reviews were good. So I figured I'd give it a shot, and I like the reader.

My only complaint is that this is the 2nd book in the series and the first one I listened to. I ordered the other two from the library and plan on reading them ASAP.

I wish the other books were read by the same man but I'm still going to give them a shot. It's hard for me to wait and use my credits to order then and not purchase them sooner, even now, my fingers itch to order.

Dark Melody Audiolibro Por Christine Feehan arte de portada

Enjoy the book but the narrator

Is rather painful. I like Richard Ferrone so much better for her stories. This one pronounces things wrong, swallows in the middle of a sentence and sometimes makes the lead female sound like an airhead.

At times I cringed at how she said Gregori's name and Carpathian.

As for the story, it's a good one and one that doesn't repeat everything again and again like some of her books tend to do.

I love the Dark Series and this is one of the better. It has heart, no pun intended :)

Demon's Kiss Audiolibro Por Maggie Shayne arte de portada

Good but...

There are four female 'leads' in this one. One of the lead females has the mentality/emotions of a child and I found myself rolling my eyes a few times because of it. She was just TOO innocent and sheltered and it made me, at points, want to gag.

Another female lead was stupid and hardheaded and you wanted to choke her.

The other two were pretty strong and I'm sure, when their time comes, they'll have good books.

The men were well written and interesting. They didn't have a lot of gag worthy moments.

If you're looking for a sexual book, don't look here. There are, if I remember correctly, only two love scenes in this.

I sometimes think it was spread too thin but it was the first in this 'series' and it has to introduce a lot of people to move the series forward.

For Maggie Shayne, I enjoyed it and I'm looking forward to her next piece.
