Will Patton is my favourite narrator

Anything Will Patton reads, he makes amazing. The story was great, but I cannot imagine enjoying it as much as I did had anyone else read it.

5 stars for keeping me listening, but....

Listened to the entire book in one go. It certainly was very suspenseful and intriguing, but then by the end, I realised that absolutely none of the twists, obvious subplots, or creepy character building had any point by the ultimate ending of the story. Feels like the author began writing this with grander intentions for the plot, put the project down for a couple of years, then picked it back up halfway through writing it, and hurriedly finished it.

What a brilliant guy. So eccentric. love it. The narrator reads with a repetitive cadence. So that was pretty irritating but the book is fantastic nonetheless

Will Patton has made me a Bukowski fan

The narrator is the greatest performer I've ever heard read a book. Combined with Bukowski's brilliant storytelling, these Bukowski books are hilarious, addictive, and addictive. Just do it.

Ray Porter, God's Gift To Audible

I've listened to 5 of the tier one books, and the Tier One Shared World book Sons of Valour, all in a row. Ray Porter is the best thing on audible right now. these books are well written and addictive

Most boring book on audible.

The narration is excellent, no problem there I feel bad writing this, but I kept going and going hoping the story would get interesting. When I finally gave up, I was 10 hours in and realised there was literally no time left for any more action or plot development. My advice, give it a miss.

Excellent story destroyed by robot narrator

At first, I thought the file was corrupted because of the computer generated voice of the narration. I deleted it and re downloaded, that is how bad it is.

Now after re-downloading, I am almost certain that this file has been run through some sort of modulation software, and it makes the narration sound like terrible computer generated Siri GPS directions.

I have checked the hyperlinks to the narrator Karen Whatever Her Name Is, and her voice does not sound like this at all on any of the samples of.the other titles she's read. Infact, no human being has a natural voice like this. it absolutely must be an intentional modulation by the sound engineers.

If you're wondering how bad the audio is, you won't get the full grasp of it until after you purchase and then try to grind your teeth through the grating intonations (lack thereof".

Infact, it is almost worth buying the book just to be able to leave this review so the sound engineers can be sent some feedback.


Re-record the book, audible. this is an unsellable product.

Nothing happens for 14 hours.

then, after waiting 14 hours, I read the synopsis online and discovered nothing really happens in the next 10 hours either. Beautifully written language and prose, but seems like the author simply wrote to get lost in a world he'd created rather than to delineate any especially planned plotline. can see why was panned by contemporaries in the 1800's. Glad.the book was free under Audible membership

Really got a lot out of this book. definitely recommend. is the narrator a real person or a computerized voice? I got used to it but it was a little strange

absolutely worth it

same narrator who does the Michelangelo novel. One of my favourite narrators. was not expecting much from this title but turned out to be something I know I will listen to many times over the years. A+
