Historia
In the aftermath of Ireland’s battle with her ancient enemies, Queen Isolde orders her cousin, smuggler Duncan O’Malley, to assume the throne of fairy as King Finvara. He’s a fish out of water when it comes to nurturing the alliance between Ireland’s mortal and fairy peoples. And the queen wants him to wed the daughter of Ireland’s enemy, the king of Icelandic shadow elves, to help keep the peace. But the Irish think of the elves as goblins, and Finvara refuses.

Female narrator is awful
Revisado: 09-02-23
The male narrator is good. The female narrator is so bad that it detracted from the entire story. I’d been looking forward to this book after listening to the first in the series. It doesn’t even feel like the same author and storyline with such bad narration.

Historia
In the year 2045, reality is an ugly place. The only time Wade Watts really feels alive is when he’s jacked into the OASIS, a vast virtual world where most of humanity spends their days. When the eccentric creator of the OASIS dies, he leaves behind a series of fiendish puzzles, based on his obsession with the pop culture of decades past. Whoever is first to solve them will inherit his vast fortune—and control of the OASIS itself.

I May Become SciFi and Fantasy Fan
Revisado: 04-14-18
Where does Ready Player One rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
This book is definitely in my top 5 with all of them being equal for different reasons.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Wade, the lead character is my favorite. He's smart, resourceful, and demonstrates an inner strength that is unexpected (and pleasantly surprising) considering his circumstances.
What about Wil Wheaton’s performance did you like?
The narrator mastered subtle intonations that brought each character to life and gave them distinct identities.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes and no. While I wanted to listen to it all in one sitting, I only allowed myself to listen to this book while at the gym. For me, knowing that I could get back to the story was my motivation to go to the gym after work. At the end of a long day in the office, this was my treat while working out.
Any additional comments?
I'm not a scifi or fantasy fan. I like stories that are grounded in pure reality. Ready Player One has convinced me to give other scifi/fantasy novels a try. It truly is that good.
