Too Slow and Techie
Revisado: 10-14-15
I admit that I'm not super techie, and this book doesn't pretend to be anything but, but ... I struggled with this not because it was over my head but because it was so dull and I just couldn't get into quickly enough. The performance was okay, if creepy (which I suppose was the point) but just too much to wade through to get to the point. I gave up 1/2 way through.

Loved this Book not the Performance
Revisado: 09-16-15
I loved this book and listened to it in just a few days since I have a very long commute. The story is very interesting, thought provoking, and heartbreaking. For the most part, the translation was very good but there were a few times that I worried that I had missed a chapter (this was in the beginning) because of the choppy narrative.
I will say, however, that I wish I had read the book. I had a tough time getting over the narrator's incredibly flat and monotone reading. To me, he sounded like a male version of Siri - devoid of any emotion and affect. It was dreadful and had the book not have been so interesting I don't think I would have finished it.

I loved this book. I thought the narrator did a brilliant job. The story was very interesting and thought provoking but I was most drawn to the narrator.

Fun and Interesting Book ---
Revisado: 03-08-12
I bought this audiobook after hearing an interview with the author on NPR. The world of finance is not something I am at all familiar with but I found the premise of the book interesting and it did not disappoint. Though I think the 'reveal' was obvious and there were a few lose ends that frustrated me (like the storyline with the Darwin book) I still loved this book. Found the setting, the characters, and the story line different and compelling. The performance was EXCELLENT! Overall just a fun and hard to 'put down' book. I was really sad when it ended!

Historia
On November 22, 1963, three shots rang out in Dallas, President Kennedy died, and the world changed. What if you could change it back? In this brilliantly conceived tour de force, Stephen King - who has absorbed the social, political, and popular culture of his generation more imaginatively and thoroughly than any other writer - takes listeners on an incredible journey into the past and the possibility of altering it.

Great premise but about 300 pages too long
Revisado: 01-22-12
After reading so many positive reviews on Audible and Amazon I really wanted to love this book. (I listened and read the book.) The premise is exciting, different, and starts out so well I couldn't stop listening or put it down. But there is a certain point when the book just sidetracks to a storyline that doesn't feel integral to the time travel and Kennedy plot. It was deadly for me and I found myself wanting to skip chapters because it was just agonizing to get through. I stuck it out until the end - which was interesting - but all in all King could have shaved at least 300 pages off the middle of the book and had a real winner in my opinion! Wasson is good at times but overacts to the point of distraction at others. I also had a very tough time focusing on the characters as his voice sound exactly like the actor Luke Wilson. Can't say I would recommend this book to others - just too tough to slog through that center portion.

Interesting Story - Good Narration
Revisado: 10-27-11
Even though this book has a totally absurd story line, I enjoyed listening to it mostly because of Robert Petkoff's narration. He is very skilled at doing different voices and accents and made it very easy to discern who is speaking. Though his portrayal of the President was way too stern and harsh and I loved when he had the main female character scream! As for the book itself, this was my first Michael Palmer book and I can't say I'm dying to read him again. The idea was a good one but there were many holes in the story and the plot is so ridiculous and outlandish that it is hard to commit to. I had hoped that Palmer would resolve it in a way that was semi-believable - but no luck!

Bit shallow but nice escape ...
Revisado: 07-22-11
I enjoyed this book. I have never been one to read 'chic-lit' or dramatic fiction, but was looking for something light and fun for the beach and a departure from my usual thrillers. Since I am searching for my own escape from the horrible boring rat race, I enjoyed Emmy's escape and soul searching time away from her life in busy NYC. I found the end predictable and anti-climatic, and personally it took me quite a while to get used to the narrators various voices. Living in Boston and having many friends and many trips to New Hampshire, I've never heard accents like those of the narrators characters but it grew on me. All in all a fun book to listen and escape to!

Historia
An innocent man is about to be executed. Only a guilty man can save him. Travis Boyette is such a man. In 1998, in the small East Texas city of Sloan, he abducted, raped, and strangled a popular high-school cheerleader. He buried her body so that it would never be found, then watched in amazement as police and prosecutors arrested and convicted Donté Drumm, a local football star, and marched him off to death row.

Predictable Story and Tough Narration
Revisado: 07-07-11
I like many of John Grisham's books, but this one was far too predictable and unoriginal. The premise is interesting, but you can figure out how its going to end and what the 'moral' of the book will be within the first few pages of reading it. Its a premise I support, since I am against the death penalty, but still a bit dry and dull to get through. I REALLY struggled with the narration. I appreciate that Mr. Sowers was attempting to take on the voice and persona of the various characters but his southern accent was not believable for me and I found myself dying for him to switch back to one of the few voices that didn't have one. In the end, I began too distracted by the annoying narration (really a lousy attempt at various southern accents) and the dull storyline to finish the entire book. Though I did glance at how it ended. Would not recommend.
