Historia
When Kate wins an item at her children’s elementary school auction - an all-inclusive trip to SeaView at Sandpiper Bay - she thinks it’s just what her family needs after a decade of career disappointments and a marriage on its last legs. She has no reason to believe that said trip is a Fyre Festival-level fraud and, in fact, the catalyst to her unraveling. But it is. Oh, but it is.

Historia
As a twenty-three-year-old singer and the soon-to-be wife of youth pastor Joshua Harris, nothing in Shannon Harris's secular upbringing prepared her to enter the world of conservative Christianity. Soon Joshua's bestselling book I Kissed Dating Goodbye helped inspire a national purity movement, and Shannon's identity became "pastor's wife." The Woman They Wanted recounts Shannon's remarkable experience inside Big Church—where she was asked to live within a narrow definition of womanhood for almost two decades—and her journey out of that world and into a more authentic version of herself.

Historia
Over the course of its seven-year run, Buffy the Vampire Slayer cultivated a loyal fandom and featured a strong, complex female lead, at a time when such a character was a rarity. Evan Ross Katz explores the show’s cultural relevance through a book that is part oral history, part celebration, and part memoir of a personal fandom that has universal resonance still, decades later. Katz reveals that although Buffy contributed to important conversations about gender, sexuality, and feminism, it was not free of internal strife, controversy, and shortcomings.

Leaves a lot out
Revisado: 05-31-24
Left out important characters like Giles, Xander and Willow, Faith, Spike for the most part. Not great not much depth. Missed the whole picture in a lot of cases. Don’t waste a credit like I did.

Historia
While documenting his own personal identity struggles with gender and self-identity, British K-Pop singer Oli London explores the root cause of the issue of trans ideology and gender identity, tackling the pressures of social media, the education system, media, and other factors that are pushing a growing number of young people into transitioning. He takes a close look at real world examples and examines laws, research, and data to help lift the lid on the multibillion-dollar gender affirming care industry.

Historia
When it comes to drumming, Leah Burke is usually on beat - but real life isn't always so rhythmic. She's an anomaly in her friend group: the only child of a young, single mom, and her life is decidedly less privileged. She loves to draw but is too self-conscious to show it. And even though her mom knows she's bisexual, she hasn't mustered the courage to tell her friends - not even her openly gay BFF, Simon. So Leah really doesn't know what to do when her rock-solid friend group starts to fracture in unexpected ways. With prom and college on the horizon, tensions are running high.

Good book explains a lot about her life and circumstances behind the headlines. I hope she find genuine people and her peace. Someday her sons will understand. When I was 14 listening to her first album on the school bus I thought her life was perfect now I know she is just like everyone else.

Good book about a hard childhood.
Revisado: 04-28-18
It was good well written with Hannah's personality. The is only one chapter about her being gay the rest was about her life growing up. The story kinda skips around a timeline but it works.

Surprisingly Good! Hidden Gem.
Revisado: 04-28-18
It was a well written coming of age story about a group of female gymnasts. They have normal crushes, and stresses about the future. There is one character questioning her sexuality. It doesn't end the way you would expect but a very positive story for teen girl. I was age 36 when I read it and enjoyed it. There is a lot more to the story then whether they win or not.

BEWARE NOT ALL SPIRITS ARE GOOD!!!!!!!!!
Revisado: 01-15-17
This is the story about a very unhappy woman who travels to Italy, India and Indonesia to treat her depression with yoga and wisdom from spiritual healers. She is a typical westerner with only a very elementary understanding of Hinduism, Buddhism and Spiritualism. She cherry picks the parts of these religions that works for her. What she and many others fail to understand is that just because something is "spiritual" doesn't mean it comes from God there are evil and good spirits. The third eye, transcendental mutation, the belief that we're are all God's and black magic are all from the devil and are very dangerous. I don't doubt that the healers she meant were good people with good hearts but she doesn't know what she is getting into with this. I know people who have dabbled in spiritism and initially feel like they are in control and getting what they need out of it then it becomes a questions of who is really controlling who? Are they really in control or is the evil spirit controlling them?
