Historia
Though it is the fastest growing religion in the world, Islam remains shrouded by ignorance and fear. What is the essence of this ancient faith? Is it a religion of peace or war? How does Allah differ from the God of Jews and Christians? Can an Islamic state be founded on democratic values such as pluralism and human rights? A writer and scholar of comparative religions, Reza Aslan has earned international acclaim for the passion and clarity he has brought to these questions.

I cannot recommend this audio book
Revisado: 03-03-23
Quite ironically, I found the author repeatedly trying to justify the naive concepts of good, bad and virtue, as dictated by The God to the prophet. It could be that this was relevant to the time and place. But religion born in violence "just like all the other religions"? At some point, the BS meter goes through the roof. The author is pretty bitter about crusade wars and he's right about who started the holy wars. But I picked this up hoping to learn the true, unbiased origins of Islam. Disappointed, I have to look elsewhere.

I expected more from a great courses audio book
- De Tony en 03-07-21
This is indeed a valuable book.
Revisado: 07-24-22
This audible really helped me understand my own hidden perceptions of money and wealth. Instead of continuously speculating about how and when I'm going to retire to finally escape the rat race, the suggested calculations gave a concrete picture of my reality. The last few chapters are not as revealing as the first ones but still I would highly recommend it. Thank you, JD Roth.

Capitalism vs. Socialism: Comparing Economic Systems

Historia
Ever since we produced our course Thinking About Capitalism, customers have expressed interest in a follow-up course that could help them understand socialism in the same way. After much consideration, we determined that it actually would be more beneficial to create a course that compares and contrasts the two major global economic theories, examining them in ways that move past the polemics many of us are used to and looking at these systems as they relate to one another and the world at large.

One of the best in the Courses series
Revisado: 07-20-22
This provides a great overview of the different kinds of economies and their origins. Rather than relying on unending theoretical discussions, it relies on history and the causes to explain the developments of capitalism and communalism. Highly recommended. Will listen to it again. I liked the pace of the narration as well. Good job.

A Tale of Two Courses (Feel a Bit Hoodwinked)
- De Tommy D'Angelo en 09-21-20
Half as good
Revisado: 07-14-22
The narration of Prof. Jennifer Nicoll Victor is great and pleasant. But when in almost every chapter, she loses objectivity and starts projecting her biases, it becomes very frustrating. Why do the lecturers find it difficult to stay on course on the topic and give the listeners room for their own thoughts and conclusions?

- De Tommy D'Angelo en 10-01-16
Inaccuracies plenty
Revisado: 07-14-22
For the first time I'm hearing about Columbus reaching America in search of "China" and the lecturer himself surprised at why he ended up calling it the West Indies. Repeated addresses of the natives as "Indians" was something I could not get past. Here I am believing the great courses maintained some level of credibility.

Historia
A visit to the urologist has never been more hilarious - or revealing - than in Men’s Health, a new comedy written by Daniel Goldfarb and directed by Scott Ellis. Adam (Tony® winner Santino Fontana) is a TV writer in search of a diagnosis for a very personal problem. He ends up half naked and fully freaked out in the exam room of Dr. Szabo (Tony and Emmy® winner Tony Shalhoub), a physician with a unique bedside manner offering some truly unorthodox treatment options.

A mistake
Revisado: 06-22-22
The story world is spotty and the plot is very weak. The voice acting by the female narrator is disappointing at her best. The steamy parts are very cliche. This was a mistake for me, a reminder to stay from this genre.

With wit and a wealth of fascinating examples, he explains how our sexuality has been as crucial as our large brains and upright posture in our rise to human status.

it's ok as an introductory course
Revisado: 02-26-18
This book covers in detail on the myths of Greek, Roman, Irish and Nord myths in the beginning and those of the Pacific and native americans in the end. Disappointed on the lazy coverage on myths from India. I will have to look elsewhere. Some speakers are better than others. The lack of objectivity was sometimes irritating especially from Prof. McClymound. It is interesting that these great.courses do not let us know what the individual chapters are about in the description.
