Historia
"I had never planned to become a savanna baboon when I grew up; instead, I had always assumed I would become a mountain gorilla," writes Robert Sapolsky in this witty and riveting chronicle of a scientist's coming-of-age in remote Africa. An exhilarating account of Sapolsky's twenty-one-year study of a troop of rambunctious baboons in Kenya, A Primate's Memoir interweaves serious scientific observations with wry commentary about the challenges and pleasures of living in the wilds of the Serengeti-for man and beast alike.

Planning a trip to Tanzania
Revisado: 06-10-24
If I were planning a trip to Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda or the Sudan I would read this insightful book on the area. It is also a lovely deep dive into the complex relationships between the game parks, Maasai warriors, tourists and all the animals particularly the baboons.

Historia
A is for Aronia, berry member of the apple family, clothes-stainer, super-fruit with reputed healing power. D is for Durian, endowed with a dramatic rind and a shifting odor - peaches, old garlic. M is for Medlar, name-checked by Shakespeare for its crude shape, beloved by gardeners for its flowers. In this work of unique invention, these and other difficult fruits serve as the central ingredients of 26 lyrical essays that range from deeply personal to botanical, from culinary to medical, from humorous to philosophical.

Delightfully fruity journey
Revisado: 06-10-24
Kate Lebo took me on a delightful journey through her garden and life experiences. It made me think about what I would say about the interesting and at time difficult fruits in my own garden.
