Overall, this was an entertaining story, though it didn’t seem to have much of a point. It was funny and whimsical. The casting was excellent and believable, I totally believed that the couples belonged together. The gimmick of having many of the female characters spouting profanity got old rather quickly. I think a little less usage would have been more effective. That being said, I liked the strong woman characters. Zachery Quito and Jesse Tyler Ferguson were great in this and made a good couple. I’m glad I chose to listen to this.

Overall, it is a great story and the cast was very good. I found the premise to be very refreshing, a strong cow who wanted to run with the bulls in Pamplona. The supporting characters were very well developed and a few were humorous. I enjoyed this book and would recommend it.

My only concern was the primary narrator. He really Anglicized the Spanish words and mispronounced the name “Alicia” throughout the story. I found that to be very distracting.

This is one of my favorite stories from the Home series. Seth and Eli are relatable characters; the drawn out tension and the self exploration is believable. I liked how the author shows Eli maturing into adulthood. I agonized with them, felt the angst and celebrated the HEA ending. I have re-read the e-book numerous times, now I will listen to the audio book just as often.

I knew bits and pieces about James Taylor’s life from reading magazine interviews. This was a level of honesty I wasn’t expecting. He shares the trauma and tragedy of his childhood and teen years in a very matter of fact manner. We hear about his experiences in high school, then becoming a professional musician, meeting famous musicians- but it doesn’t feel like name dropping. And when he reached the conclusion of this segment of his life and says it was his 21st birthday, I felt stunned. So much occurred in the first 21 years that I was just stunned.

The author wrote so convincingly about needing, I wanted to try it. Elijah was a well written character, I felt I knew him as a person and wanted to stand up for to all his bullies. And Daniel, he was the perfect flawed hero. He took care of his dad, Big Dan, and other family and friends. He didn't think he deserved to have any joy for himself. We, the readers saw the bigger picture. Loved the book and I think the narrator brought the story to life.

What made the experience of listening to Marrying Stone the most enjoyable?

Kevin Clay did an outstanding job creating distinctive voices for each character. His good singing voice was a nice surprise and added to the experience.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Though he wasn't a main character, I liked Jess. The author gave us a character who was so well written, I felt as if I knew him as a person.

Which scene was your favorite?

My favorite scene was when Meggie & Roe were trying to convince everyone that they jumped off the marrying stone because of a skunk and everyone just humored them.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I wanted to savor this book, so I listened to it over 1 1/2 weeks. It was a nice distraction during each day.

Any additional comments?
