Historia
Sea Isle was supposed to be the fresh start Dr. Emilia McRoy dreamed of. Far from the busy emergency room across the Atlantic in Seattle, she hoped to settle down and begin this new chapter as a small-town doctor to the quirky residents who immediately welcomed her. When she stumbles across a dead body, she starts to think that she may not be as Scot free of the drama and intrigue as she initially thought.

Enjoyable story. Great narration.
Revisado: 12-22-24
The story was good and I like the characters. A little more research on some aspects would have avoided distraction …but I am sure the author has gotten more feedback on that than she could’ve imagined. And I am still giggling about the heroine carrying a cord of wood in one armload. :-). The performance was excellent and the point of the story was a good mystery…it is worth every moment of ignoring the radiation apron and a room full of metal around an MRI.

But when the lovely, mysterious widow Grace March moves into the attic room, she draws her oddball collection of neighbors into unlikely friendship. Grace’s weekly attic-room dinner parties and window-brewed sun tea become a healing balm on all their lives, but she hides a terrible secret of her own.

A Fun Adventure to Read AFTER Street of the Five Moons
Revisado: 06-16-24
It is a fun adventure to be read after readingFive Moons. This establishes the background of a key character in that book. I think it’s better read after so that that character is still a surprise.
This book was fun, funny, and interesting. There’s a very little less attention to the history and architecture of some places, but that’s OK. That’s not what this book was for.
Spell alert
To all those who say she should have gone straight to her grandfather: that is ridiculous. You are making that call after having read the book. Hindsight is 2020.
First, she’s young woman in a place she has never been before has been called to see a man. She has never met, who has never tried to contact her to her knowledge, and she has no idea his plans for her.
Second, one of the pursuers had identified himself as her cousin. That would make me even slower to make that choice.
Third, as much as I like this character, she is not supposed to be Vicky Bliss with her extremely logical mind.
Fourth, where would be the fun in that? There would be no book.

Historia
Why did Agatha Christie spend her career pretending that she was "just" an ordinary housewife, when clearly she wasn't? Lucy Worsley's biography is not just of a massively, internationally successful writer. It's also the story of a person who, despite the obstacles of class and gender, became an astonishingly successful working woman. With access to rarely seen personal letters and papers, Lucy Worsley's biography is both authoritative and entertaining and makes us realize what an extraordinary pioneer Agatha Christie was—truly a woman who wrote the twentieth century.

The back-and-forth in time at the end made the story start to drag
Revisado: 04-07-24
I love Agatha Christie, and I love Lucy Worsley. I very much enjoyed the first 10 or so hours. The first 10 hours was presented mostly as a timeline. I could follow the story no problem.
Suddenly it switched from a timeline to subject matter and the back-and-forth to discuss things over three decades seemed only a diversionary tactic to keep the book going longer.
The book could have been two hours shorter, and I would’ve given it a full five stars on all aspects.
I enjoy a time shifting historical novel as much as the next person. I would have enjoyed this had it been subject focused from the beginning, but the shift felt too strained and I found myself wishing it would end.
Ms. Worsley‘s narration was wonderful ..as always.

Historia
Everyone expected Violet Sorrengail to die during her first year at Basgiath War College-Violet included. But Threshing was only the first impossible test meant to weed out the weak-willed, the unworthy, and the unlucky. Now the real training begins, and Violet’s already wondering how she’ll get through. It’s not just that it’s grueling and maliciously brutal, or even that it’s designed to stretch the riders’ capacity for pain beyond endurance. It’s the new vice commandant, who’s made it his personal mission to teach Violet exactly how powerless she is–unless she betrays the man she loves.

Revisado: 03-11-24
I’ve heard bad narrators and Rebecca Soler is NOT one of them! The story is great! Hard to put down.
I have the Kindle version of both books but for Iron Flame got the Audible version too since I knew I would be short of sit down and read time.
Oh my gosh! This was not just narration it was audible acting.

Stick with it!!
Revisado: 02-25-24
The Author Reads this Great New Series. I started out not crazy about her voice but I stuck with it because I thought the stridency may be intentional or at least worth it to hear how the author intended the book to be interpreted.
Whether her voice grew stronger as the character did or she became more confident, I’m glad I stuck with it.
Well written and well performed.

Definitely an improvement in the last year but the mispronunciation drive me crazy
Revisado: 08-30-23
Is a great story! I was pulled in from the beginning and enjoyed the investigation and the romance.
But two such important words been constantly mispronounced: LibRary. It’s in the name of the series. And provenance. Not providence. The history of a paintings ownership has nothing to do with the capital of Rhode Island or God. OK maybe it’s God inspired.
The story is good and the performer is so much better than the performer of the first book. Although I would have preferred a Southern accent, no accent was much better than mauling it.

Historia
Lacey Terwilliger's shock and humiliation over her husband's philandering prompt her to add some bonus material to Mike's company newsletter: stunning Technicolor descriptions of the special brand of "administrative support" his receptionist gives him. The detailed mass e-mail to Mike's family, friends, and clients blows up in her face, and before one can say "instant urban legend", Lacey has become the pariah of her small Kentucky town and a media punch line....
