Historia
Throughout these books, Follett has followed the fortunes of five intertwined families - American, German, Russian, English, and Welsh - as they make their way through the twentieth century. Now they come to one of the most tumultuous eras of all: the enormous social, political, and economic turmoil of the 1960s through the 1980s, from civil rights, assassinations, mass political movements and Vietnam to the Berlin Wall, the Cuban Missile Crisis, presidential impeachment, revolution - and rock and roll.

Annoying political bias
Revisado: 11-01-14
This book does not live up to the two first. It does have very good passages, Follett is still a great storyteller. But there are surprisingly long boring passages. The Cuba crisis is an example. Maybe I was comparing it too much to 13 days.
The obvious leftwing political bias very annoying and made me go from 3 to 1 star.... and then after cooling off 2 stars.

Historia
This is the way the world ends: with a nanosecond of computer error in a Defense Department laboratory and a million casual contacts that form the links in a chain letter of death. And here is the bleak new world of the day after: a world stripped of its institutions and emptied of 99 percent of its people. A world in which a handful of panicky survivors choose sides - or are chosen.

Moving way too slow
Revisado: 03-27-12
Would you try another book from Stephen King and/or Grover Gardner?
Absolutely. King is a great writer. Gardner is a great narrator.
What could Stephen King have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
Maybe I would have preferred the original version. As far as I understand it was shorter. There are too many boring details in this one.

Historia
It's June 1941, and the low point of the war. England throws wave after wave of RAF bombers across the Channel, but somehow the Luftwaffe is able to shoot them down at will. The skies, indeed, the war itself seem to belong to Hitler.

Ken Follett in Denmark
Revisado: 01-26-11
WW2 in Denmark. Important information needs to brought to London. Ordinary people are called into action and rises to the occasion. A lot of drama, love, excitement and humor.
Made we cycle very slow to and from work as I wanted to hear as much as possible each time.
And I enjoyed the fact that the story is set in Denmark. Funny to hear John Lee struggle with the Danish names and locations. And impressive how he actually got close with some of them ;-)
I really enjoyed it.

Funny, but a little too weird
Revisado: 05-07-10
This is a comedy more than a thriller. The hilarious dialogue between Tommy and his mother got me laughing out loud a couple of times. The relationship between Tommy and the girl on the other hand was more annoying than entertaining.
I am a big Koontz fan, but this story was too weird for my taste.

Good Book
Revisado: 08-03-08
I enjoyed listening to this book. It is very well read. There is a lot of interesting and deep questions and answers. A lot to think about.
I heard it in two long stretches while driving. I don't recommend that though.
It requires some concentration and it can be a bit difficult to follow all the arguments just by listening to them.
I'm probably gonna buy the printed book.
