Historia
For maverick LAPD homicide detective Harry Bosch, the body in the drainpipe at Mulholland Dam is more than another anonymous statistic. This one is personal...because the murdered man was a fellow Vietnam "tunnel rat" who had fought side by side with him in a hellish underground war. Now Bosch is about to relive the horror of Nam. From a dangerous maze of blind alleys to a daring criminal heist beneath the city, his survival instincts will once again be tested to their limit.

A detective who goes above and beyond to catch the bad guys. He explores alternate theories in his brain making no assumptions about what seems obvious to the reader. Exciting action at times but the details ARE important, so pay attention.

Justice system wrongful imprisonment stories makes the reader feel great about the recovery of truth in an age (now) where misinformation is at the forefront of our minds. Great plot and narration. The ending made me celebrate too.

His mom was killed in a horrific accident when he was seven, and grief drove his dad to drink. Charlie learned how to take care of himself—and his dad. Great story with heart.

Most people believe in helping our fellow man and taking care of animals. No spoiler here, but this thought holds true for us despite where we are, even in a fantasy world. This thought permeates the actions of the main character; I wish more people were like him. Loved this book. Fun read. Great narration.

Hard to wrap my brain around
Revisado: 11-20-22
Struggled to finish but overall an interesting plot line. I frequently felt the objectives of the different species were unclear so you never know who you are rooting for. Mystery is okay but too much is not. This is book 1 of a series. The first few minutes of book 2 are provided at the end and this helped.

Missing conclusion?
Revisado: 08-30-22
Did I miss something? The antagonist (bad guy) status by the end is unresolved? I get the rest; Koonz books require your very active listening to piece together the various threads; this makes for a great read but I relistened to several parts. Sometimes the story seems fractured/disjoint. Hmmm.

Adam Black paints himself into a corner and good wins over evil. Great action and a plot with several surprises. There seems to be a very small piece of missing text between chapter 115 and 116. How did Black get out of that situation?
