Historia
The Amazing Maurice runs the perfect Pied Piper scam. This streetwise alley cat knows the value of cold, hard cash and can talk his way into and out of anything. But when Maurice and his cohorts decide to con the town of Bad Blinitz, it will take more than fast talking to survive the danger that awaits. For this is a town where food is scarce and rats are hated, where cellars are lined with deadly traps, and where a terrifying evil lurks beneath the hunger-stricken streets....

This is lovely

It's much more involved than the original story.
Revisado: 02-08-25
I enjoyed it so much that I listened to it twice in a row. The characters are more deeply realized and questions left open in the original story are more satisfactorily answered.

Historia
The Royal Bank of Ankh-Morpork is facing a crisis, and who better to manage it than the man who turned around Ankh-Morpork’s inefficient Post Office, former arch-swindler-turned-Postmaster General Moist von Lipwig. Lord Vetinari once again makes Moist an offer he can’t refuse: resuscitate the venerable Royal Mint. The bank has many problems: the chief cashier is almost certainly a vampire, the elderly chairman and her two loaded crossbows needs a daily walkie, there’s something strange happening in the cellar, and running the Royal Mint is costing a mint.

Stephen Briggs' narration is better
Revisado: 10-08-24
I love all things Pratchett, and this book is no exception. It's a very funny and scathing satire of the British banking system at the time it was written.
Unfortunately, I am not as enthusiastic about this narrator's performance, which was merely adequate. The original version, read by Stephen Briggs, was, in my opinion, much better.

Historia
The Ankh-Morpork Post Office is running like...well, not at all like a government office. The mail is delivered promptly. Postmaster General Moist von Lipwig, former arch-swindler and confidence man, has exceeded all expectations - including his own. So it's somewhat disconcerting when Lord Vetinari summons Moist to the palace and asks, "Tell me, Mr. Lipwig, would you like to make some real money?"

Too many redundancies and mispronunciations!
Revisado: 08-25-22
If that man says "Ryva" one more time, I may just lose it! The author's intended pronunciation of the word is "Reeva".
I am also heartily sick of hearing bleak, vast, profound, quite and rather over and over and over again! Didn't he own a thesaurus?

Historia
Somewhere on the frontier between thought and reality exists the Discworld, a parallel time and place that might sound and smell very much like our own, but which looks completely different. Particularly as it’s carried though space on the back of a giant turtle (sex unknown). It plays by different rules. But then, some things are the same everywhere. The Disc’s very existence is about to be threatened by a strange new blight: the world’s first tourist, upon whose survival rests the peace and prosperity of the land.

Historia
Time was running out for Garion and his companions in their quest to recover Garion's infant son and heir. If they could not locate the Place Which Is No More, then Zandramas, the Child of Dark, would use Garion's son in a rite that would raise the Dark Prophecy to eternal domination over the universe. Only the Seeress of Kell could reveal the site of that mysterious place, and she could only do that once Garion and Polgara had fulfilled an ancient prophecy in the mountain fastness of the Seers.

An interesting tale with many textual flaws
Revisado: 12-31-21
While I enjoyed the story itself, I didn't like the bizarre way way the narrator pronounced some words and place names. I wish that the author had owned a thesaurus; his overuse of such qualifiers as rather, quite, profound and and all permutations of the word bleak, severely grated on my nerves! This author rarely presented a thought, feeling or action without qualifying it in some way. After listening to the entire series back to back, these things became EXTREMELY ANNOYING! I blame the editor for not cleaning it up.
If one can get past these repeated failings, it's an exciting and interesting series. BTW: they get worse in the Mallorean.
