Best series ever- best narrator best author- wish there were more!
Revisado: 06-13-24
Hilary Mantel was an incredibly talented and captivating writer. Ben miles is perfect in this role. He embodies Thomas Cromwell with great savvy and somehow successfully manages to play every other character with the same skill. I loved this series and wish Mantel was here to write more about- anything, really. Shes THAT good. Wow. Just wow.

Patchetts’ expert ability to see yourself and others through her characters in a new light
Revisado: 04-04-24
I LOVED every word! She created a wonderful story with beautifully written characters.
It deeply resonated with me because as Katy Waldman (New Yorker) said Patchett wrote about how we “come to terms with painful circumstances; how [we] press beauty from constraint, assuming artificial or arbitrary roles that then become naturalized, like features of the landscape.” Indeed we do. I saw echoes from my own life experiences and the lessons learned from decades of beautiful memories and painful moments revealed in these pages- eloquently articulated in the masterful voice of Patchett through the ever talented Meryl Streep. A beautiful love story about life. Thank you.

Historia
From 1783, when German immigrant John Jacob Astor first arrived in the United States, until 2009, when Brooke Astor’s son, Anthony Marshall, was convicted of defrauding his elderly mother, the Astor name occupied a unique place in American society. The family fortune, first made by a beaver trapping business that grew into an empire, was then amplified by holdings in Manhattan real estate. Over the ensuing generations, Astors ruled Gilded Age New York society and inserted themselves into political and cultural life, but also suffered the most famous loss on the Titanic.

Anderson, Cooper’s flowing writing style and epic storytelling garnered from years being in the news and publishing business captured my imagination and held it all the way through. I believe he captured the essence of the Astors. I loved all the detail, and as usual, another great book from Cooper

Listening to Amy Tan’s narration made me feel present, with her, on so many occasions. Her writing is both evocative and revelatory when it comes to her life, her history and the things that shaped her. An in turn, her books have shaped me, and will continue to shape me in years to come. I love her books and this one was especially

Revisado: 08-12-23
It was time we learned the full truth about Elizabeth and her Mother. Thoroughly researched and presented Borman captured my imagination for a beautiful stroll through Tudor/ Elizabethan England with style and finesse. I love how she brought to life previously neglected characters and storylines from that era. 10 stars!!

Historia
One grey dismal day, Janine Marsh was on a trip to northern France to pick up some cheap wine. She returned to England a few hours later having put in an offer on a rundown old barn in the rural Seven Valleys area of Pas de Calais. This was not something she'd expected or planned for. Janine eventually gave up her job in London to move with her husband to live the good life in France. Or so she hoped. While getting to grips with the locals and la vie Française, and renovating her dilapidated new house, a building lacking the comforts of mains drainage, heating, or proper rooms.

John was 15 when it began. Visions, voices, feelings, an ability to make up stories about the future that, uncannily, came true. Actually, in retrospect, he was probably much younger than that, but it wasn't until he reached his teens that he realized his abilities were extraordinary. John Edward is now a renowned psychic medium whose talents are matched by only a handful of people in the world. One Last Time is his remarkable story.
