The first narrator tells the history of this tale with the voice of bored babysitter reading the obligatory night-time story to their charges. I had to buy the physical book to finish.

I enjoy this series a lot and I'll keep listening to them all. But the narrator needs to learn how to pronounce some words, like Aisling is pronounced Ashling not Aizling; athame is athamay not atheem. And why does Galen sometimes sound like Geelen?

I like the story arc but I can't listen to the narrator. Even the female voice is rather monotone but the male voices are awful. If this series is rereleased in the future with a different narrator I'll happily buy again.

Different and interesting

After feeling jaded by the books I've read over and over (I listen to books I love many times) I wanted a different voice, different characters but keep in the genre I love. These stories are interesting from the paranormal, detective and relationship perspective. A taste of noir detective to freshen the palate. I look forward to the rest of this series.

Love the weirdness and the characters. I want an omelet bar and an ice cream bar!!! The only reason I gave 4 stars for performance instead of 5 is because Aisling is pronounced Ashling. In Only The Lonely Aisling's name is in almost every third sentence.AAAAGGGGGHHH. Sorry, I'm okay now.

Don't pass on this one. I'm happy I bought it! Bree is a totally enjoyable character both wisecracking and deep. I hope the sequels are narrated and released soon. Lauren Fortgang gives the right tone and voices so I hope she'll continue to narrate this series.

The planets must have aligned when A. J. Aalto and Amy McFadden were brought together to present this book! When a story has a cracking good character like Marnie Baranuik she needs a master narrator like Amy McFadden. And look! We got her! Finger pistols all over!!!!!

Interesting take on magic. Good story. Best of all the accompanying background music is fantastic and reminded me how much fun it was to play in an orchestra. But even if you aren't a music nerd you'll really like this book. I hope Jessica Khoury writes more in this style!
