Historia
When Lenina and Bernard visit a savage reservation, we experience how Utopia can destroy humanity. Cloning, feel-good drugs, anti-aging programs, and total social control through politics, programming, and media: has Aldous Huxley accurately predicted our future? With a storyteller's genius, he weaves these ethical controversies in a compelling narrative that dawns in the year 632 A.F. (After Ford, the deity). When Lenina and Bernard visit a savage reservation, we experience how Utopia can destroy humanity.

Historia
On a splendid August afternoon, Susanna Osbourne is introduced to the most handsome man she has ever seen...and instantly feels the icy chill of recognition. Peter Edgeworth, Viscount Whitleaf, is utterly charming - and seemingly unaware that they have met before. With his knowing smile and seductive gaze, Peter acts the rake; but he stirs something in Susanna she has never felt before, a yearning that both frightens and dazzles her.

Hard to like the main character
Revisado: 10-19-20
Very hard to like the lead female character. Wanted to quit a few times in the book because I was tired of her nonsensical decisions. She also had a habit of pointing out with her male counterpart needed to do to fix himself. Frustrating. Gratuitous sex. Good romance writing doesn’t need to have that in it. Romance and sex is great, but subtle and leaving something to the imagination is better. Actually I like this writer, she’s quite good. Character development was good I really like the peripheral characters and got a good sense of the environment. The story was ok but she was just not likable.

Very good story, wonderful narration
Revisado: 08-29-20
The book felt very period, developed characters, not a predictable story. Drew me in early and kept me going until the end. Next book will be hers.Narrator has excellent voice for characters and diction, did the story justice. The men were manly and the women were feminine. Great job. I will watch for her with other audiobooks for sure.

Really good writer, unlikable main character, too much sex
Revisado: 08-05-20
Really good story, very good writing. I wouldn’t even say that it was predictable, but it was obvious who the culprit was from the beginning. The male characters were developed well and really interesting. The h was annoying and just unlikable. She went from being intelligent and thoughtful to impulsive and idiotic... and a snob. It really made a difference in liking the story or not. The sex scenes were far too gratuitous ... way too long. Look at the classic romance novels they don’t even have sex scenes and they were very sexy and romantic. It’s OK to leave a little to the imagination. This is a really good writer, but maybe I just don’t like her style. I don’t know if I’ll read another one of her books. It was too painful. The performance by the narrator Simon Prebble was fantastic.

Historia
For two years, England has been in the grip of Civil War. In Banbury, Oxfordshire, the Cavaliers hold the castle, the Roundheads want it back and the town is full of zealous Puritans. Consequently, the gulf between Captain Justin Ambrose and Abigail Radford, the sister of a fanatically religious shopkeeper, ought to be unbridgeable. The key to both the fate of the castle and that of Justin and Abigail lies in defiance...but will it be enough?

I tried but couldn’t finish
Revisado: 06-21-20
This is awesome, it why I chose this book. There’s much I liked about the story, predictable as it is. Most of the characters I liked, very good development. The war scenes are drawn out a bit too much. But the heroine is just an idiot, She’s just too hard to like. I don’t see how anyone likes her.And I’m not buying that her mother is no more protective over her than she is. But I just couldn’t finish the story ... I tried, it just got to be too silly.

Historia
As a lady's companion, Clara Hartwright never receives much attention from anyone. And that's precisely how she likes it. With a stormy past, and an unconventional plan for her future, it's far safer to remain invisible. But when her new employer is invited to a monthlong holiday at a remote coastal abbey, Clara discovers that she may not be as invisible as she'd hoped. At least, not as far as one gentleman is concerned.

Wonderful end to the series
Revisado: 06-16-20
Matthews is very good at character development. These aren’t sappy romances, but drag you in there with them. I really appreciate being immersed into the era. Alex Windham is an amazing narrator. I would look for books narrated by him on that alone.

Where has Mimi been?! My new favorite author :-) She’s very consistent so far, I can count on a good read now that I’ve read a few. I can’t wait to read everything she’s written.
Alex Windham has a wonderful voice. Good storyteller, easy characters. Looking forward to listening to more of his storytelling.
