Historia
On a hillside near the cozy Irish village of Glennkill, the members of the flock gather around their shepherd, George, whose body lies pinned to the ground with a spade. George has cared for the sheep, reading them a plethora of books every night. The daily exposure to literature has made them far savvier about the workings of the human mind than your average sheep. Led by Miss Maple, the smartest sheep in Glennkill (and possibly the world), they set out to find George's killer.

Revisado: 05-25-20
Fun, witty, and intelligent. I do not like the now-commonplace tense suspense, excessive violence and sadness of most intelligent mysteries. This was free of these and packed with delight--a thoroughly enjoyable listen. I'm looking forward to Book 2 as long as Drew Hayes keeps the excellent narrators.

Do plants have intelligence? Do they have memory? Are they better problem solvers than people? The Revolutionary Genius of Plants - a fascinating, paradigm-shifting work that upends everything you thought you knew about plants - makes a compelling scientific case that these and other astonishing ideas are all true.

Narrator's speech impediment ruins it.
Revisado: 04-24-19
I am guessing that the narrator must be a friend of the author, because he has a speech impediment pronouncing "s" which is so distracting that I had to return the book. I have complete respect and compassion for the narrator as a person (he might have overcome much to get it down to a minor impediment), but why he would think he should be a professional narrator, I do not know.

Historia
This remarkable and monumental book at last provides a comprehensive answer to the age-old riddle of whether there are only a small number of "basic stories" in the world. Using a wealth of examples, from ancient myths and folk tales via the plays and novels of great literature to the popular movies and TV soap operas of today, it reveals that there are seven archetypal themes which recur throughout every kind of storytelling.

Narration forced me to return it.
Revisado: 03-17-19
The narration forced me to return it. The content appears to be well-researched and more than worth one's time and attention. I am continually mystified over the poor narration of good material. I have to assume that the author was powerless to stop it.

Historia
New York Times best-selling author C. J. Box returns with a suspenseful new Joe Pickett novel. Nate Romanowski is off the grid, recuperating from wounds and trying to deal with past crimes, when he is suddenly surrounded by a small team of elite professional special operators. They're not there to threaten him but to make a deal. They need help destroying a domestic terror cell in Wyoming's Red Desert, and in return they'll make Nate's criminal record disappear.

Disappoining because of unbelievable descriptions.
Revisado: 03-17-19
Narration is great, but SKIP this C.J. Box book and go on to his excellent next book "Wolf Pack." This story just does not allow one to believe the coincidences and actions of the characters. Too many false juxtapositions, actions, and reactions.
Box also employs the supremely unrealistic and INFURIATING trite female reaction to killing a man who is trying to kill her. When an evil man tries to murder a woman who then defends herself and kills him instead, there is a RIDICULOUS and oft-repeated-in-novels scene in which the woman is bereft with guilt over killing him. Totally silly and UNBELIEVABLE. As a woman, I am so tired of seeing this silly reaction written up almost every time a woman kills a truly damaged and evil man who had been trying to kill her.
Again, skip this one.
I appreciate C. J. Box's description of landscape and sense of place, but it is just not enough in this book to invest your time or money.

Truly Terrible Narration makes listening painful!
Revisado: 03-17-19
Unfortunately, I cannot adequately comment on the content since the truly terrible narration makes listening painful. It is a mystery to me how someone can have so little judgment as to pair any writing with this narration. I had to return the book which may be unfair to the author (unless he approved the narration).

Historia
Ibn Saud grew to manhood living the harsh traditional life of the desert nomad, a life that had changed little since the days of Abraham. Equipped with immense physical courage, he fought and won, often with weapons and tactics not unlike those employed by the ancient Assyrians, a series of astonishing military victories over a succession of enemies much more powerful than himself. Over the same period, he transformed himself from a minor sheikh into a revered king and elder statesman, courted by world leaders such as Churchill and Roosevelt.
