Great stories but I did not enjoy the narrator.
Revisado: 04-26-25
I fell in love with Patricia Fisher while she cruised the world. I was really excited to find out what happened when she landed, The narrator is different on this book. Patricia now sounds like a bad imitation of Elenor Roosevelt. Barbie is a Valley Girl. Jermaine sounds like Lurch from the Adams family. I am heart broken. Steve Higgs writes a great story. I delved into Patricia because Albert was such good fun. Now if I want to know what happens to her, I will be forced to read the books. I listen to books because I drive a lot and it whiles away the hours. I don't get a lot of time to read. Unfortunately, since the same narrator is reading the other books, I will have to decide to give up or read them myself.

Would not buy any other books in this series
Revisado: 01-25-25
I bought this series because 6 books for one credit seemed like a bargain. I listened to all of it so it wasn't terrible. It was ok. Until the last book when the main character behaves so ridiculous about her boyfriends ex that I almost didn't make it past that point. The language is odd for an American. I suspect it is written by someone not from the US because of references to celebrating boxing day and the high street and a few other terms that are most common in England or Canada. The narrator was good and that kept me going.

Historia
Wolf-shifter Hugh Lupine simply wants to make it through the month and win the bet he has with his best friend. He's not looking to date anyone, or to solve a murder, but when a breathtaking beauty runs him over (literally), he's left no choice but to take notice of the quirky, sassy newcomer. She'd be perfect if it wasn't for the fact she's the granddaughter of the local supernatural hunter.

A Romance novel pretending to be a mystery.
Revisado: 02-09-24
I am so annoyed with this book. If you want a silly romance then this is your book. Those who like that genre will probably really enjoy it. I was looking for a cozy mystery. Not too deep. Figure out who done it. Easy listen. It took until chapter 18 to become remotely interesting. Then by chapter 20 I knew the answer to the mystery. The rest was romance blah blah. I got this book because the first one by Jana Deleon was fun...and a mystery with a brief romance side bar. I want my credit back!

Good Romance but not what I wanted
Revisado: 05-16-23
If you like a good gushy romance novel, you will probably enjoy this one. Straight off the heels of the Awakening, Becoming and the Choice, I was expecting more from the author. I guess I should have read the summary more carefully. I have listened to the above series 3 times and will probably listen to it again. In this case I won't buy the second book in the series.

Odd character changes in this one, good story.
Revisado: 01-25-23
First let me say this it is a good story, engaging and a great mystery. I love Kerry Greenwood and buy almost everything she writes. The reader is not bad, but I miss Stephanie Daniels. Here's what I found odd. She seems to have started back at the beginning in relationships with Hugh and Dot and Phryne. In Murder in Montparnasse, it is Phryne who helps Lin and Camilla with their relationship. In this book Camilla is almost adversarial. Jane cut off her hair when Fraiser tried to drown her in Queens Cliff by pulling her under with her plat. "no light pole involved" Lin and Phryne seem like strangers until the end of the book. The college was in Sidney not in Williamstown. "see Death before wicket" Last odd thing, I miss the quote at the beginning of each chapter.

I won't read anymore in this series.
Revisado: 01-28-19
I really like Ellery Adams books. Although I wish she would stick to mysteries instead of tossing romances in the mix, I think her books are well crafted. I chose this series because I liked the others, Book Retreat, Bayside Book Writers and the Secrect Scone @ Book Society. I found this book series charming, whimsical and a surprise. As a hard core sci fi lover this series took me by happy surprise. This book finished for me. I won't spoil it for those who want to read it, but I am unhappy with the character development and I won't continue with the series. She took what was magical about it away and I miss it.

Sad romantic drivel in an otherwise fun story.
Revisado: 02-08-17
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
I was very entertained with this book until the last third of the book where the stupid romantic plot really annoyed me. The trips to the past are fun and interesting and it would have been a better book without the silly romance.
If you’ve listened to books by Amanda James before, how does this one compare?

He suspects that four people from his past could be responsible - and any one of them is capable of sustained and unspeakable brutality. Suspense dragged out a little too far
Revisado: 06-16-16
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
It held my attention but towards the end of the book I started skipping forward. It seemed the writer skipping back and forth between suspects thought that was building suspense but it really didn't. I could skip and pick up what was going on.
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
It's a good story. It took too long to tell.
Which character – as performed by Robert Glenister – was your favorite?
Strike
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
Maybe if it had someone writing the screen play that could use the edit pencil.
Any additional comments?
Much of the information going on in the character Robin's head made me think she was a nitwit.

Reader seriously impacts enjoyment of the story
Revisado: 03-06-15
What did you like best about Dark Hand of Magic? What did you like least?
It's a good read. The characters are written with humor and insight.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Dark Hand of Magic?
Sun Wolfe using the earth magic.
Would you be willing to try another one of Teri Clark Linden’s performances?
Not unless someone coaches her on the proper timing and cadence of a story. It seemed that she was so concerned about annunciating the words that the story got lost. This book is a pretty high action adventure but you would not know that from how it is read. She has a pleasant voice and I think she could be an excellent reader if she would work on the cadence and speed.
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
Yes
